It actually has to do with numerology and planetary correspondences used in metaphysical practices. The prominent occultist and founder of the Ordo Templi Orientis and Argenteum Astrum, Aleister Crowley, made the chage to "ABRAHADABRA" to bring it better in line with the correct numerology and ABRAHADABRA is an actual word in Aramaic roughly meaning "I will create as I speak." It is used for many things, including manifestation and clearing out anything unwanted or "negative", not just healing the sick. It is thought that the original word was ABRAHADABRA and that the physician changed it due to local dialect or some such thing and that Crowley's change is a return to the original word.
