It took me a day to think of a word that seemed made up, but uesd farily often such as metrosexual.

Info-mercial. I am not sure if it is made up, but I wouldn’t be suprised if it was. The combonation of information and commercial.

    Thanks,
    Birddogger

Interested in the origin of the phrase “Cat got your tongue” and how this relates to someone who is silent or at a loss for words.

    Keep up the good work!

Firstly i’d love to say that i like your work. Keep up the good job.
Secondly, i think you have to love Serge Gainsbourg, he used to play with words a lot, but unfortunatly he quit the job.

  34. beavis90210 on January 26th, 2008 11:25 am

    Marina–

How about MacGuffin? I understand it’s supposed to be a made-up word about a made-up thing that is pivotal, but not really important.

That’s a such a complicated idea that it might make a good lesson.

    Cheers!

She actually tells people what she wants, “Rate my video, I like 5 stars” Ok. “Sign up to my channel” OK. “Do Your Homework” OK. WOW All those pupils. Good Jop Hotforwords. beavis90210 replied on January 26th, 2008 11:35 am:

    Golf4birds–

As I understood it, Mike Judge and the writing staff of Beavis and Butthead made up a whole host of words to get past the censors and MTV. Fartknocker is just one of many of these. I’m not sure exactly what it means, other than its an epithet that means fartknocker.

Maybe someone can compile a list…
