I grew up in a bible beleaving church …

I grew up in a bible beleaving church & was always fascinated by how poorly english treated translations from origional languages. Names for God for instance, I understand that the Israelites had different names for the one God according to what God did or meant to them and that the fear of using Gods name, “YHWH”, wrongly brought the curse of the third comandment on them. Combining the names of God as in Genisis 2:4 Jehovah Elohim is the ultimate, translated Lord God into english, seems to lose a little punch doesn’t it. Still it hints at a bit more to be revealed to arouse curiosity and further study.
I’m no scholar by any means but I don’t think the Idea of God as reffered to In Genisis in the plural refers to more than one deity because it would fly in the face of Exodus chpt. 20.
Anyways don’t want to use up all Marina’s web bytes or whatever getting into a theological discussion. But I can’t help but be curious about the story of the tower of babel and the what ifs of a pure universal language. Would we be great communicators or Kill off the human race altogether.
I thought “Eve” translates as a nurturer to “The mother of all living”
Question that i asked too was “Did Adam and Eve have bellybuttons?”

- I’ll be brief, yah right, if you just take the english, & thats the only language I can trip myself up in and most people here read & the translators translate to for us. verse 14 of John 1 pulls together the whole of Johns book “The word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” NIV. John I think was the only disciple not to be martyred so he had along time to think about his experiences, none the less being a fisherman by trade and not a trained theologin or philosopher, he had to have been divinely inspired to write words so pregnant with meaning and simple enough for us common folks. The two words “grace” & “truth” taken on their own are diametrically opposed, but in the Jesus of Johns book balanced to perfection are the atributes that attracted the common folks of his day & since to Him. Extremeism & other ‘isms obscure the simplicity of Johns statements. And thus in order to be brief I must stop there & go home for dinner. Cheers
BTW cool fonts, I don’t know where to get a keyboard with those ones on ‘em. - Actually “Buzzword” launched into the first chapter of the gospel of John in one of his comments “In the begining was the word…” Words, thats probbably why we’re atracted to Marina, nnott… its ’cause she’s so Hawt & cute & stuff. But why we come back is a different story. She attracts a diverse assortment of folks. Some are pretty funny others of us way serious sometimes. I do know that Jesus didn’t come to establish a religion, the religious folks had him crucified & if they had their druthers they’d a shut up the disciples too. most were martyrd later anyways. We find the definition of pure religion in the Book of James and it has nothing to do with rituals or rites or practices to please God. Man that’s to much pressure, If I could understand God I would be God. Anyhow its late and I’m rambling on, Marina may send me an invoice for using up so many bytes of space. She has my email y’know. G’nite

Thanks PK for the link to Marina’s comment, it’s always interesting to see what she responds to. Read some of the other discussions too. People get right into it in the comment section sometimes #passionatediscussions… oops, guess I’ve been twitterized Ha.
Thanks to my Twitter Mom (Marina), I’ve been involved a bit with the Victoria Social Media club. Kind of a bunch of local people who are figuring out good things that can be accomplished through the power of social media & networking. Getting together IRL socially & meeting with special guest speakers, etc. Pretty cool stuff. Look forward to talking to you again soon.
