Your appearance was great. I loved watching you cast your spell over him - those eyes!

    No one can resist HotForWords!

I’m sure you’ll be on again and again… but I’ll write to the email none-the-less.

I do get tired of Bill constantly bad mouthing the internet in general, but the load of negative commentary on this thread reminds me of how full of truly out of touch people the net does seem to be.

He’s the single most popular news dude on cable and nowhere near as horrible as people try to pretend. Most importantly, he’s really open about his own slant which just makes it easier to judge what he says. He has no hidden agendas at all. His agendas are all right out in the open. He doesn’t dance around trying to make things he believes look like something else just for popularity’s sake.

Mclijazz: Thanks for the link! That was a great segment, but I wish that people interviewing you would let you finish a sentence without interrupting. You are very patient and gracious. I love your site marina.

  4. mclijazz on April 15th, 2008 11:06 am

This is my first comment here. I just joined moments ago. That was a great segment last night. I was glad to be introduced to Marina and this site. I’m a huge fan of BOR and watching “The Factor” every night he’s hosting (as opposed to Laura Ingraham or John Kasich filling in when I don’t make as much of an effort to watch).
I look forward to looking around this site and learning new words…or at least hearing words I already know in a whole new way.
Annemarie, I’ve been on board with the body language segment since the first one a year and a half ago. Unless villains like Joran van der Sloot are analyzed, I like the segment. But I would look forward to a weekly segment with Marina. The Kelly File segment with Megyn Kelly is expendable to me. She’s already in “Is It Legal?” with Lis Wiehl. One segment a week is enough.
But I digress. Again, I’m glad to be aboard.

Great Job on the O’Reilly Factor, Marina! You got a new reader in the Dude.
Why do all these people have to personally attack O’Reilly just because they disagree with him though? So you have different views than the man, get over it, People!
He gave Marina a great opportunity.

Saw you on O’Reilly———-you did very well but thought you got awfully “cushy” with him!!

  7. annemarie96 on April 15th, 2008 3:12 am

I sent email to Bill O’Reilly suggesting a weekly word origin segment on his show. (It would be more interesting than the body language segment)

Some of us don’t have cable or satellite…. will you post a video of the interview?

  12. vikinggod on April 14th, 2008 7:51 pm

What a surprising and wonderful experience seeing lovely Marina on O’Reilly. Loved the voice as well (hers, not Bill’s). LOL

  13. cosmopolitan1 on April 14th, 2008 7:22 pm

I saw it and again :
Funny some people on here have an opinion on O’reilly left and right and obviosuly know very little about him or they would never expect him to be mean to you

he is all about playing with words!!!..finding new ones and elaborating … at the end of every show…what better forum is there?!
Plus he is the NO1 show on cable news!!….I mean hellllooo :?: :!:

He was the most respectful….great host! great interviewer with you!…..in fact : he acted like a true Marina fan!! :!:

And you, Marina, were simply pure perfection!
you and O’Reilly are a great team - I hope he brings you back on a regular basis

Yes dear Marina, I saw the show this morning at breakfast at home in lovely Macao / China where I live.

You have done a superb and excellent job, as always. You are born for global media, like a fish is born to water.

    Cheers

greenbush replied on April 15th, 2008 1:15 am:

Yes, dear teacher Marina, I saw the show with Bill. You were absolutely great! Informative, interactive, lively, emotional, friendly, with such a tall man of media importance. Yes, I am a republican/independant, and e-mailed Bill with congratulations of his great interview with you. Hope to see more of you and Bill, should your future permit. I don’t know how you keep yourself together so well, with all the air travel/hotel/taxi/ect, just for maybe five minutes of national broadcast air time? Maybe you are just staying pure to yourself. Your dear student, john. ( PS, where did the term, I’ll have to send him a “dear john letter”, come from?)

mergatroidal replied on April 15th, 2008 5:33 am:

I was disappointed. And I let Bill know my disappointment.

Subject: Dear Mr. O’reilly, next interview with our beloved Marina, extract some personal history from her, PLEASE!

Body: You or your assistants who produce your show were obviously flustered with thoughts of interviewing Marina. I was expecting you to give us her birthdate; her place of birth; what is her middle name; where she went to school, anything about her and her person. Your presentation and conduct on the show was like a job interview, to see if she was qualified or not. Your interview was not at all what I was expecting to listen to. Geez …!

Constructive criticism: Next interview with her and please don’t try to act like her and start giving us word lessons. You do your thing on your show, and let Marina do hers on her show. Interview HER, please.

I saw the segment thanks to mclajizz and the link he provided in a comment further on down the page. HotForWords was in good form and thoroughly delightful, and O’Reilly was full of himself as usual.

  15. cagedruss on April 14th, 2008 3:47 pm

You won’t have to worry about Bill, there is no agenda with him as long as you are honest. Can’t wait to see it.

  16. jsmooth5atl on April 14th, 2008 2:46 pm

Congrats on getting on the O’Reilly show. However I can’t stand him but I will watch just for you.

  17. prospero811 on April 14th, 2008 2:36 pm

Bill O’Reilly is o.k. Remember, he’s not meant to be a straight news guy. He’s a pundit, which means he has an opinion and doesn’t represent himself to be impartial.

That being said, I have found him to be smug and overbearing. I dislike his interview style because often he will speak for 2/3 of the time while his guest sits there and listens to him. I find that to be rather annoying. A prime example is when he had Richard Dawkins on his show, and the guy spoke for about 1 1/2 minutes out of the 5 he was on there and Bill just told him how Bill thought he was wrong.

Bill is also mistaken many times on his history - basic facts, not stuff that is really up for debate.

As the years have gone on, O’Reilly has become more and more condescending and conceited on the show. He isn’t, however, as many seem to allege, always in the Republican camp. I’ve seen him be critical of both sides of the political aisle.

But - it’s a great boon to Marina to be on the show. It has an enormous viewership.

What saddens me is that the days of Marina being a hidden treasure that nobody knew about besides me and a few others are gone. Soon, the traffic on this site will destroy the intimacy of the website. Ah,well. Everything changes. Nothing stays the same.

ferrumequus replied on April 14th, 2008 8:08 pm:

prospero811….. your analysis of Bill O’Reilly show is 100% correct. Also by inviting Mariana on his show will spoil some of the intimacy we enjoyed with our ‘Teacher”.

I only hope that Marina will find the right people to support her once she is really famous and not exploit her real charm, humor and eloquence for their personal benefit.

    Cheers
    Ferrumequus

brutishvulgarian replied on April 15th, 2008 12:51 am:

An excellent analysis of O’Reilly. But he and Marina make a good team because they both genuinely love interesting words.

I bet Marina doesn’t forget you early adopters. Without her participation this site would devolve into a driveling sausage fest.

  18. killraven1717 on April 14th, 2008 2:15 pm

If anyone got a chance to see BILL on 60minutes. He told Mike Wallace ” I AM JUST YOUR AVERAGE GUY” Mike said back…Oh c’mon you make 10 million dollars a year, I would not call that average.

    Based on that insight…

  19. annemarie96 on April 14th, 2008 4:48 am

We watch Bill O’Reilly all the time. We even have his books. Will be watching tonight for sure. Hope it goes well for you.

  20. bobsully on April 14th, 2008 4:18 am

Honoring your request to say nothing if it is not “nice” I will say nothing at all. I did email you privately to let you understand my decision.

  21. absorber on April 14th, 2008 2:38 am

    Marina,
I agree with other posters here that O’Reilly “could” have you on his show just to make some commentary on internet content and how it corrupts young people. ( Remember O’Reilly is all abound keep kids safe. That is is big thing.) He could try to put you on the defensive about how you present yourself. However, it that should happen, just keep smiling and show your intelligence for the words he has chosen to use. Talk about education and expansion of language. Blow him a kiss and he will soften (his tone that is). Good luck and look forward to seeing you on the show.

  22. frozenheart_ on April 14th, 2008 1:04 am

  23. brutishvulgarian on April 14th, 2008 12:47 am

She recorded the segment last week and she says he was nice, so it’s safe to say he treated her well. I hope she investigates ninnyhammer and popinjay.

  24. BillyB on April 13th, 2008 11:24 pm

Just ’cause his name’s Bill dosn’t make him a bad guy… does it?
I told Canada’s biggest O’Reilley fan to watch for you, haven’t seen much myself about the fellow except the little bits of old news & who Knows if any of that is true. Checked out his website off your links… busy guy gets together with busy gal cool. Hope I can catch the broadcast.

  25. Boyd on April 13th, 2008 10:51 pm

Good Luck Marina. I know you will represent yourself well. Do be careful as sometimes he is about his own entertainment value only with his own agenda. I am sure you can handle him though.

  26. the7milliondollarman on April 13th, 2008 9:57 pm

You are going to blow them away. If you need ‘muscle’ on hand to keep Bill’s hands on his cue cards, just say ‘TA’ and I’ll make it happen.

I agree about O’Reiley. He isn’t fit to be in the same studio (or country) as Marina. You should go on a show that would understand what you’re trying to do, like Colbert, he’d make fun but not in a mean way. I’m sure O’Reiley is going to make a nasty comment or do something uncalled for with editing, he usually does with his guests. I swear if he messes with my favourite teacher…!!!!!!

  30. groz422 on April 13th, 2008 7:46 pm

Marina: Bill usually has a hidden agenda, I can’t wait to see what it is. I hope he will treat you with respect.

Everyone of the pundits on tv and radio earn such negative praise.
Conservatives can be relied upon to despise the liberal pundits,

I find them all repugnant, which is fortunate for me in that I can alot
