“restaurant” is going to be one of those words that just migrates for convenience, especially because travelers (who might not know many languages) are always going to be looking for restaurants… or coffee… or beer…

I would like to know the origin of the word [nuance]. I took Russian for a year back in college, and I was always impressed that my Russian teacher (she was from Uzbekistan) used [nuance] a LOT when talking about the slight differences between words… until I looked up “nuance in the Russian dictionary… IT’S THE SAME WORD IN RUSSIAN TOO!” I know that a lot of words cross languages, especially nouns (coffee, chocolate, beer, tobacco), but [nuance] seems like an odd one to be the same word in many languages
