I’m not a native speaker: I’m from Spain.
The other day, I was thinking about two constructions that we have in Spanish to express “to try to do sth”:
- “intentar hacer algo” = literally “to try to do sth”
- and “tratar de hacer algo” = lit. “to “treat” to do sth”
And then I noticed the similarity between the two English verbs (”try” and “treat”), and wondered if they have the same stem and origin.
