:???: I can’t seem to find your GTA IV video anywhere on your website, but on the subject:

Speaking of video games, Marina, you kinda resemble KGB Secret Agent Natalya from Destroy All Humans! 2: Make War Not Love, that that alien, Crypto, is constantly hitting on.
I enjoy playing that game, I think it is easier than playing the prequel. I wish they could have made Destroy All Humans! 3: Big Willie Unleashed for the PS2 format, but the whole thing with the budget cuts sucks.

Hi Marina, I’m currently learning to speak Russian. I Love learning languages.

I sure hope you can provide your videos both in English and Russian as well. Perhaps at the same time, this can create an interest in the Russian language among your fans.

I wish you can make Russian videos so that I’m prepared for my work when I migrate to Санкт-Петербу́рг

    Hotforwords, I love your videos!

Can you tell us all what the origin of the word “silly” is? I know about it already, but it has an interesting history and I’d just love to hear you explain it all. :)

“merchantofdeath”, “ergo” means “therefore” in Latin. Pretty simple etymology, so I don’t think it;d make an interesting thing for hotforwords to do.

Marina, could you explain the origin of the word “Ergo”. I’ve read it many times in novels and have seen that it means ‘therefore’ but how’d it come about?

    Thanks if you do!

Do you know which famous actress looks like you (I am serious)? I think she’s copying you actually. Can you guess?

My guess, in this order is: Charlize Theron, Elisha Cuthbert, Jessica Biel, Julie Benz.

How far off am I? None of these four can hold a candle to Marina who is a thousand times more beautiful. Of course, that’s why the others are copying Marina.

    Hey - Hi Marina!

I have a latest word request. It’s a small word ready for a big video
and plenty of responses & comments. While I was friends with a
Marina L. back in 2006, she had trouble grasping some of my humor.
Could have been me but, same jokes got laughs from different people.
Wikipedia’ed the word “joke” and it was more extensive than I
imagined. It had a section on Russian jokes with them and within
was a section refering to “untranslatable”.
With you being one of the smartest people I’ve come across, might
be cool to tackle some of that. I’m sure that you might get the highest
comment response by asking: “What is your favorite joke?”
So, origins and some “side-knowledge” about the word “joke”, please!

I have many English-speaking friends who have been studying Russian at high levels for years with brilliant results but they still tell me that they often face some troubles in the translation (esp.written) works. However,i didn’t mean to dishearten you since i think you were interested in learning Russian,i really think that all these peculiarities make our language particularly fascinating!…

    Marina,

That was’nt of course the answer I had thought of, but if Lyubov Orlova was your grandmother on your father’s side, you must look like her very much, no? She was a beauty, but not as…well you know the rest!

My answer will be revealed very soon, and you’ll see how right I am! I think you have a career in the movies in your stars. You’d be a great, sexy comedienne, of which there is a very short supply in the world.

    Marina,

Everyone says you’re smart because of your language interests, but no ones says how really, really smart you are as an internet businesswoman. That is truly impressive. How brilliant!

What a great concept to ask your fans to register at your site to make suggestions, to get cards, etc.. You’re leveraging your interenet success into business success by generating subscribers and analyzable hit statistics for ad sales etc. You are really, really smart and brilliant at this-(didn’t I already say that?) My hat is off to you and kudos!!! If you are doing all this alone, it’s really amazing. Even with a partner (a lucky, lucky guy?), it’s very impressive.

Oh, by the way, what’s the origin of “kudos”–obviously, it’s greek. But I’d be interested to hear more about it.

    Moowah smarty!

CaptainJack replied on July 1st, 2008 8:25 am:

She is intelligent in other areas too. Just read some of her comments on other sites. She also built most of her site all on her own. She makes all her videos and does her own research. She is very independent and rather do the work herself. So your right in saying she is amazing.

lostforwords replied on July 1st, 2008 8:41 am:

Marina, I am not suggesting you can’t do this alone, but it’s so much work. I appreciate that: maintain the website, work with advertisers, make deals, field outside requests, buy clothes, make videos, edit, mix, add animation etc. Do you sleep?

unless you are referring to someone else, the voice of Marina’s sister is Marina. Perhaps you’re kidding. Can’t tell. Marina may have a sister, but it isn’t her voice off screen; I am sure. The sister thing in the video’s is Marina’s joke, sense of humor and device for effect.

CaptainJack replied on July 9th, 2008 8:35 pm:

LFW, Im sure Gronimo was just kidding  So if you see any of my comments of me dating Marina sister, Im just kidding also, or am I?

    Hotforwords,

Is this all the training we need now for the KGB?

I’ve learned to get drunk and recover, get horny and blow the horn (I’m still hoping), spy and not break a tooth and shoot the AK-47 in two languages.

When does Putin give me my secret decoder ring and hunting knife?

((Enjoyed seeing your friendly face speak your native tongue but, without subtitles the video blew right past me))

Marina replied on July 1st, 2008 5:52 am:

wetsuit5, you are almost officially indoctrinated. Someone will be knocking on your door shortly :-)

    wetsuit5 replied on July 1st, 2008 7:07 am:

    OK Marina,

But what is the secret (tongue in cheek) “password” this string bikini clad agent will be using?
(Oh doppy me, “Hotforwords” of course)
And I’ll blow a horn for the counter sign.

Bob replied on July 1st, 2008 8:19 am:

Marina, do you really think he’s cut out for the job? If he’s a suit he won’t have much idea of fieldcraft, and if he’s wet he won’t have the required mental toughness.
Maybe we should all get some fieldcraft training - how about a field trip?
