There’s a Peruvian alcoholic beverage called Pisco whose name comes from the place it was first produced in the late 1500s. Pisco is a southern port city south of Lima. This city owes its name to a sea bird that inhabits on the rocky islands nearby. We use Pisco to prepare our national drink, “pisco sour”. This was created in the late XIXth century in Lima.

    Dear Marina,
I’d like to know about the word gunlaying. I’ve been trying to get a more or less precise translation into a Spanish but I haven’t got any up to the moment.

By the way, in Peru we use the world celular for cellphone. In Spain they say “mobil”, which is their adaptation of the British term mobile phone. We also use other words borrowed from English just like “Guachiman”, which comes “watchman”; “refrigeradora” from “refrigerator”, instead of the spanish term “nevera, etc.
