Best café in LA

There is a restaurant in Los Angeles that is up for The Best Breakfast Place in Los Angeles award!  They are currently leading, as they REALLY ARE the best restaurant in Los Angeles for breakfast (and other meals!).

They are called the Blu Jam Café and they rock! If you have ever eaten there, and you enjoyed it, can you please vote for them as well, as they truly deserve this reward.

Here is the link to vote.. and you can vote once a day I think.  Contest ends on the 10th!

    Marina;

It’s not really possible for me to vote since I haven’t been there or the competing places either. No doubt they’re getting votes from your members but some other places are being hurt by this. I think you have the best intentions (really) but you’re rigging this competition a bit and someone out there, working very hard, is being hurt by the fact that you don’t know them. I like your notion of staying away from politics. Even with the best intentions this is a form of politicing, don’t you think? Your support and cheerleading is understandable, tempting and it’s hard not to, but…Plus, I’m not sure that it is the best idea to have people know where you traffic. With all of that, be good, cause I think you are.

  4. kaibanator on July 11th, 2008 8:46 am

hopefully they won’t take as long as the brickfish’s nike sparq training comp that we voted for 7milliondollarman in. I just checked the site, and it still says ’still judging’.

The bloody thing ended on the 16th. 25 days later and same old message  Considering there was only 68 entries, judging shouldn’t take a good part of a month

Blu Jam has some competition from the dudes at Dish in La Canada/Flintridge. They are a comfort food “mac and cheese” house which is not all bad but not half the restaurant of Blu Jam. We need to get our winning margin up. Remeber: you can vote every day. Let’s kick it in gear for Marina and her friends.

    okay4now replied on July 10th, 2008 3:25 pm:

Who where in La Canada? That’s where I grew-up (started to grow-up).

  17. sweet2 on July 9th, 2008 10:33 pm

Well, I am from Tierra del Fuego, and we have no restaurant here by that name. We do eat with our hands. We have many words, and sometimes we have to eat our words (how about that one, Marina?). But we have no peaches or strawberries. And we have no phrnologists, although we have many bumps on the head from living upside down. We have no choice in this unfortunate aspect, owing to our location on this part of, er, under, the world. However, we DO have wild blueberries the size of golf balls (although no golf, either, sigh), so I think this gives the requisite moral authority to cast a vote for The Unknown Restaurant. And hey, where is this place called “LA”, eh?
PS: there are many clues in this comment!

I voted for Blu Jam. I guess I need to scoot up the freeway now and actually GO there. When oh when do we get to meet THE Hot for Words and get her autographed picture? Any specific day of the week for breakfast? Tuesdays, Weds., & Thurs. are good for
    me.

    Keep up the excellent work!

Oh, how about the word “Phrnologist”? It is “one who reads the bumps on one’s head to see if they are a criminal.

Hi Miss Marina I voted for the Blu Jam anything for a friend. I love blueberry pancakes so I grew me my own blue berry bushes so I could make some pancakes anytime I wanted some. They freeze very well if you don’t wet them before putting them in the freezer. You are welcome to a big stack of hotcakes if you are ever in NC.

Hmmm,I voted yesterday but there is no voting option yet today, maybe it really means 24 hours from My last vote.I’ll check later.

I like; A pile of fresh, warm pancakes(Buckwheat) with real butter and dark syrup,3-4 over-easy eggs-and a 1″ thick slab of Ham for breakfast, all packed/piled on one big plate with a mug of Hawaiian Coffee to wash it down,,,,,,,mmmmmmm yummy!! *Trips My trigger* and no mistake!

2nd choice would be Trout for breakfast.Had that once after a loooong night of Midwest gravel road touring,We were *wayyy loaded* but well behaved in the wee hours of morning, funny I can even remember it!

Marina replied on July 7th, 2008 6:53 am:

sniperskaya, I would never ask you do do something dishonest like that!

roadrunrnch replied on July 7th, 2008 12:04 pm:

    Marina,
No good deed goes unpunished. Other people with restaurants will bitch about you getting your Minions to vote for Your friends.
    Be ready for the fallout.
    Sorry.

ragabashmoon replied on July 8th, 2008 12:37 pm:

Thing is, an “online” vote like this is so uncontrolled anyway. *I* am not going to vote, but I think if they really cared that Marina is asking us all to vote for her friend, they wouldn’t have made it an online vote in the first place. It’s the most highly inaccurate voting method in the world, just because of how very easy it is for someone like Marina to screw it up (no offense meant to you, Marina!)

ragabashmoon replied on July 8th, 2008 12:46 pm:

Now, I will point out to everyone that Marina does say…”If you have ever eaten there, and you enjoyed it, can you please vote for them as well,”

So, she is NOT telling those of us that haven’t eaten there to vote also, although of course many of us are, and as I said, that’s the problem with online voting, it’s not Marina.

tryant replied on July 7th, 2008 6:58 am:

Hi sniperskaya. Just curious here,do You think every voter has eaten at every restaurant? No,of course You don’t. The vote will reflect the satisfied Customers *and* Their Friends for each restaurant. Use the link and vote if You wish to,honesty is great but let guilt be for the Guilty and left out of Your day.

sniperskaya replied on July 7th, 2008 4:24 pm:

A “tyrant” with a moral conscience who reads minds? Interesting. I would think that the people who vote have eaten at the restaurant they vote for or else it is meaningless. “Honesty for the guilty”? Doesn’t make any sense. I’m glad Marina is honest.

I just read your article about Dachshunds. It is a shame that the little breed has got such a bad review of their temperment. I have owned many miniture Dachshunds for 30 years. The only person the one we have now has ever bitten was one of my son’s friends that used to pick at him when the dog was younger other than that he is a very friendly dog. I guess it comes from the German breeding of the dog to hunt Badgers in their dens. Hince the word Dachshund meaning badgerhound in the dictionary. This will be the only dog we will ever have because we love the breed so much. Thanks for such a fine article. I look forward to more of you’r fine writing. MIke

jcr replied on July 7th, 2008 10:42 am:

Mike- Thanks. I did my best to write honestly of our experiences. Even as I respond to you, I have a photo of one son holding our beloved former dachshund, the one that would have sacrificed his life for our son. The dog loved the boy so much. They were bonded…but when a dachshund goes after other children, it is risky.

He did that when a friend was joking around with my son. The dog went after him and it scared me. That same dog grabbed a rabbit in two seconds flat after I opened the door to our backyard, not realizing a rabbit was frozen in place across the yard. Also, we nearly had to send cavers after him when he tried to get a skunk or badger that was under a backyard storage shed. The dog would NOT come out and was determined to get that badger or get killed…and we feared he’d get killed. But who knows? The dachshund might have won. I was yelling so loud for him to..come…back! The badger must have had a back entrance because eventually the noise stopped and dog returned, looking victorious but no badger in his teeth.
