Yes I look up my own words sometimes too. I even purchase my own books, instead of using the internet all the time. My most recent purchase was The Oxford Companion To Ships & the Sea – 1976 ED. Worth about $100.00 dollars.
I don’t know if you have seen, but in earlier posts I have mentioned that my parents have the only set (outside of libraries) in the state of a dictionary that has at least 26 volumes. Each person here has a different type of humor. Most I understand some I just let slide until the one comes up I take offense at. Someone suggested I was writing poetry. I do not know how to write poetry. This was just my random thoughts I placed into a mathematical / visual display of words. I got a bit over emotional and just stayed up until about 5 or 7 am writing it. It’s 5pm now and Im going to get some shut eye soon.
Well now im really bummed out. This is a good example why chat rooms fail in efficient communications. They lack the body language that is such a very important part of the way we humans communicate. Im thinking this simple exchange of 15 words can cause so much misunderstanding. Capman made a joke, assuming Marina would see it as a joke so he thought no further need for more words to clarify it was a joke. Marina thinking that Capman was serious in his comment responded as such. 15 words. Too little of words exchanged to get th e correct point across? Not the correct selection of words? I wonder…

The misunderstanding between Marina and myself has hopefully been resolved. Like BillyB stated I have a short fuse and I will admit it. I do my best not to let things get under my skin, but I just loose control on occasion. Sometimes I don’t know how to take some of the comments or their meanings that are put to me. Each person here has a different type of humor. Most I understand some I just let slide until the one comes up I take offense at. That happened yesterday and to the one person I never ever wanted to offend, and I did. I said I wasn’t going to apologize for what I said but I am and I hope Marina will accept it. It seems I have been doing this a lot apologizing for one thing or another ever since I joined this group of amazing people. Sorry I can’t help my attitude, but it is a part of me.

probably a typo, cause the p and the o are next to each other.

pwn, pwnd is not a typo. It was crafted in the BBS days. . “ownd’ is incorrect. I don’t know why that keeps showing up. ‘pwnd’ is not invented by l33t speak, but has been adopted as such.

Later is was used in the phone pheaking days. I have numerous documents dated back in the 80’s showing that it was used often during these days.

Mike; You & Marina have to `hug’ & make-up. You both obviously hit nerves which is pretty cool if you step back and think about it. Everybody is learning AND growing here which again is more than just a tad bit cool, but walk away from this site only when you’ve determined that it no longer has value to you, which I don’t believe is the case–even a snot-nosed little kid can see you are an addition.
Marina, I realise that you have to cater for many different tastes and levels of education and intelligence, but I hope that you can return quickly to a more edifying content in your videos.
A propos of that, what do people think is the opposite of the phrase “dumbing down”? Would “dumbing UP” be sufficient and would “smartening up” be a double reversal, and therefore the same as “dumbing down”?
I have struggled to find anything amusing or witty to add to the homework assignment; the best I can come up with is the expression “unpacking ones trunk” for “picking ones nose”.

Someone suggested I was writing poetry. I do not know how to write poetry. This was just my random thoughts I placed into a mathematical / visual display of words.
I got a bit over emotional and just stayed up until about 5 or 7 am writing it. It’s 5pm now and Im going to get some shut eye soon. 
Well now im really bummed out.
This is a good example why chat rooms fail in efficient communications. They lack the body language that is such a very important part of the way we humans communicate. Im thinking this simple exchange of 15 words can cause so much misunderstanding. 
Capman made a joke, assuming Marina would see it as a joke so he thought no further need for more words to clarify it was a joke. Marina thinking that Capman was serious in his comment responded as such. 15 words. 
Too little of words exchanged to get th e correct point across? Not the correct selection of words? I wonder… 
Yet words can create great happiness. 
I learned something today. Not just the video lesson but the power of exchanging 15 words. Words can cut like a knife. They can cause great pains.
