Marina nice interview great job congratulations!
Great Interview. I too am a Dostoevsky fan. The Brothers Karamazov is a great work and I love the character Alyosha.
Btw, you are great on O’Reilly as well - and he’s not as bad a guy as people want him to be - he’s just highly opinionated. Of course, even those who don’t like opinionated people - are themselves highly opinionated about that!
All the best!
Marina, we love you out here!!!
I hope you don’t mind, but I am using your videos to enrich the vocabulary of my two daughters, aged 12 and 14. It is also a way to introduce them to the source materials, vis-a-vis: dictionaries, thesaurus, and other basic research tools.
Not only are these clips educational, but they are funny and highly entertaining. You make the study of words, their origins, and history fun and highly involving, whether its for Daddy or the girls!! They look up to you, and I am personally grateful for that.
All that, and you are genuinely in the pantheon of the world’s most beautiful women [not meant to be cloying]. You are taking the negative connotation out of being an intelligent woman, and I very much want my girls to learn that lesson in life. A genius-level mind and as breathtakingly beautiful as Helen-of-Troy. Now that’s what I call a Femme-fatale!
Please keep teaching in this manner, Marina. You are reaching more people’s minds and improving their lives than you can possibly imagine.
Sincerely, and in admiration always,
Stephen
Marina added a touch of class to O’Reilly, but I wouldn’t call him a creepy person unless you are a pinhead.
Awesome job as usual. Much better than dealing with creepy O’Reilly. I look forward to the nincompoop special.
Marina, Ok on your front page I see this really hot “Made for Mac” desktop that is not in the downloads. Are you holding back on us Mac users?
They must have made that.. as I don’t have it! Darn!
The only time I have ever been called a nerd was way back in the 4th grade. And I got called ‘dork’ a number of times throughout junior high. But I don’t ever recall being called a geek. I grew up getting bullied and picked on a lot. And it didn’t get easier for me to make friends, since my step-dad had a career in the navy, and we had to move around alot, every few years. So I didn’t have time to make any friends. I had to constantly start all over, and I pretty much became a loner and a social outcast. So in other words I grew up not liking a lot of people and became naturally disconnected from others.
Haha. Thats my boy Martin, used to be on the “Unscrewed: television show on TechTV before G4 took over. Hes like the horniest guy you will ever know.
marina nice interview great job congratulations
Good job Teach.
tryant
Nice generic interview.
But one of these days I’d like to hear a real interview about just you.
Nothing about words, Nothing about the HotForWords site. Just you.
What are your likes, your politics, your thoughts.
I’d like to pick that grey matter between your ears.
how about the relation between engine and gynecologist and gene? All meaning to generate?
Great interview. That’s another feather in your cap.
One step each day will help you go far in life as to what you want to finally accomplish
May piece and love always be with you.

research the words?
congratz on the interview
Last year, I received a book about bits of trivia, and the book had mentioned the word “dork” as a reference to a whale’s penis. I found put later that the whale part is wrong
I hope kobe didn’t go biting/playing with the headphone cables
Great interview. The video was a bit weird being stretched, but hey, it’s about the words, isn’t it?
A nice wake up on a soogy day.

The screen azimuth setting made your
smile as wide as a Cheshire cat’s
The title “sexiest geek on the internet” is
very appropriate and on display in this
show. Congratulations on the cool PR
Is it “a” Cheshire cat, or “the” Cheshire cat?
Cheshire cat, animated!

Good show, good show Marina! You were fantastic!
Well I have to eat my hat. I think I misinformed many students about the etymology of the word dork. No one corrected me. Im such a dork!….
Anyone know where the dunce cap was left last?
I’ve been referring to myself as a ‘dork’ for years, even last week. It takes the pressure off, but the great secret is that everyone is a dork, or dorky, at times. Much different than a ‘dink’ which I save for use only on those special people which once they make it into the ‘dink’ category I don’t think they’ll ever recover & be real.
I am wearing it right now, you want it back

I enjoyed the show and some of the words you discussed on the show would be a good lesson. I know you already did one on Geek but I didn’t see one on nerd or dork. You look lovely as ussual.
Work, work, and more work. you are great
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=GVpeqijMel0&feature= related is this the same “Jeff and Mutt”?
It’s raining dogs and cats
and Alligator Snapping Turtle
Nice interview. Looks like you did a remote from your place using your Mac and the new black chair from the old place. You reversed the video image, probably easier for you to see what you are doing. If you part your hair in the middle as you did in some photo shoots, we would never know. I heard Kobe bark that he agrees. Nice hair.
and a common snapping turtle too you
