Best Weekend Ever pt. 2

Here is the followup to my best weekend ever video.. where I picked my three favorite stories of yours.

The Best Weekend Contest Website is here.

Here is the link to David’s story.

Here is june201955’s story:

Once, I invited a new girl friend to accompany me to a large ski resort for a 3 day weekend. The suite, (log cabin type walls & ceiling) was huge with a fully stocked wet bar, log burning fireplace, king size bed, & a jacuzzi. Only i time per day would we come out of our room to enjoy the dinner buffet. The only other thing that I can tell you, (here on YT) is that neither of us knew how or was ever interested in skiing……..

And here is the winner, meyster7’s story:

My best weekend was the night I proposed to my girlfriend. Before I popped the question the following happened. I was late for our date because of an apartment closing, a cat puked on her, it started to rain on us and i was going to pull the ring out anyway… and right before I did… she got hit with diarrehia because of the ice cream i bought (she lactose intolerant). And then when I asked her… i must have been so nervous… instead of a “yes”… I got a “what?” and had to repeat it. :)

    Hi Marina,

It’s a Friday and as a lot of people I am ready for the weekend and desided to start mine a little early. So today I am “playing hooky”, but can you tell me where that came from :?:

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hi Marina,

Thank you for picking me in your contest… Wonderful!

Here’s one… that will make you laugh… seriously!

I am in grade 10 and come home for lunch. Mom is not home.
I go to check the mailbox and find a black briefcase
sitting outside near our front door. “What’s that doing here?”, I ask myself.
I get up close and see that it is so jam-packed full of stuff that you can see through the sides. I see lots of wires and weird things that are hard to recognize. I step away and phone my school friend next door to come over with his flashlight to have a look.

My friend is puzzled by this “mystery case” and we both start to “freak-out!”
We call the cops and they come and look… then they call the fire department. They are all looking at this suspicious item and whispering amongst themselves. They phone my Dad to ask if he has any enemies. He had no enemies.

Two firefighters take a pole and slide it through the handle and gingerly carry it to the back of the fire truck. The police car and the truck leave with the case. My friend and I are taking the afternoon off because “we’re a bit shakin’ up over all this.

Standing in the front yard we see my Mom walking towards us carrying a grocery bag from downtown. As she gets within hearing distance, she asks, “Did the TV repairman get here yet?”

OH BOY!!! The firetruck took the case out to the local dump/landfill and the police shot at it with their rifles.

Apparently, the TV guy came by (nobody home) went for lunch and thought he’d leave his case behind in a “safe spot”!! LOL

    David

Humm last time we saw a dark video it was Sister Words.
    Marina was that you?

I too found this video’s Marina to be unfamiliar; her eyes look like piss-holes in the snow – did she forget her contact lenses or her Belladonna or did she have a hangover?
Also, it may be a bad camera angle, but her cheeks looked hollow making her look older – for a moment I wondered if it was her mother.
I hope she’s not bulimic, but it might explain the fascination with people puking. It’s something I don’t understand. Why do people think it is necessary to abuse themselves to the point where they throw up and loose their memory, in order to convince themselves they’re having a good time?
Perhaps I should have told of the weekend I had cholera in an African hotel with no doctor available and no pharmacy open. I spent the whole time suspended between the toilet and the sink, projectile vomiting and shitting through the eye of a needle.
Luckily, my inoculations were up to date, so it didn’t kill me, but sometimes, when I hear young people bragging, I wish it had.

  23. joshb5 says: 48

i think you should do a video on ‘You’re absolutely georgeous’. That way it would be enjoyable for you seeing as you’re 100% related to that   x

    Hey Marina,
This is kinda old but last summer there was that song “Ay Bay Bay.” If you look it up on urban dictionary there is some pretty lengthy descriptions and go into surprising detail. Just wanted to know the true origin of the phrase.

    Thanks!

  25. If “Hell is paved with good samaritans.”, where do the bad samaritans go? Just wondering, in case I need to decide which kind of samaritan I am.

  32. #1 Student says: 39

    Hi #1 Teacher,

Your Best Weekend Ever has to be redone as this upcoming weekend is Labor day so you can crank out extra work and get us #1 students more videos than normal. Also that first contest appeared to be rigged by the contest organizer. Its good I didn’t bet the family estate on that contest. If you got video responses from the 3 runners up especially showing yacking it could of won top honors, but #1 teacher could showed Kobe puking in her purse or something to top all others…

#1 Student (sooner to be promoted to #1 Teacher)

Good stuff Marina keep it up.

  43. amitkaria2k says: 26

I heard “NEWS” (I mean news channel word “news”) originated from “North”, “East”, “west”, “South” … Is this true.. Can hot4 words investigate this pls?

  44. Hi HFW! Love you! The nuns in school were just as exciting in an etymological sort of way, so I learned a lot of words! Of course, I was ten, so that’s why! Now I learn much more form you!!!

Anyway, I’d like you to give us the origin of the word YACHT! I have one and you (okay, and Pauly if you’re still togeher) are invited anytime. I’m in New Orleans
You haven’t done a “Y” word yet but I won’t ask you why? Jut say “Yes” and trace the history and meaning of ‘Yacht.”
    Ciao and keep it up!!!

  45. amitkaria2k says: 24

    Second question to you teacher:
We eat “burgers” daily, where does this word come from?

a lazy weekend is a great weekend

Congratz to meyster7 for the winning entry :)

Speaking of meyster7’s story, the word “diarrhoea” was mentioned, and I was wondering about the origin of this weird word. Weird thing is that when you pronounce the word diarrhoea the letters ‘h’ and ‘o’ are silent

  48. Your videos are always so fresh and interesting. Thanks for all the time you put into making words hot. I just spend an hour and 30 minutes at the library looking up phrases and words! I’m addicted! Thanks HFW

I think you’ll reach 200 Million in about three months! I didn’t look for your video until late today because I need to do more work prior to a three-day weekend. I’ll be busy tomorrow, too, but I’ll be well-prepared to watch you videos over the weekend! Your dear student, seesixcm6

  59. Warren says: 10

    Hello Marina,
Halloween day will you be on the Maxim Radio show?
If so how about some ammo for a game?
    “Graveyard Shift” and “Dead Ringer”.
Also the words “Ghoul” and “Zombie”.
(James and MissCupCake asked for Zombie)
There are a few explanations for them and it might make for some fun on Stretch’s show.

And why are some words used with another word as if they are one complete word like…
    tippy-toes and zig-zag ?
    Thank you Marina
    Warren

Marina, I loved this video. Loved the dark background. I had several great weekend stories, but never submitted it. Topic of my stories was beginners luck at the races winning daily double, winning big at roulette in Vegas and meeting Steven Spielberg who hired me as an extra on a sound stage, but I was never filmed.

Question. I love your engaging delivery. I know that you edit the bloopers, but still, your delivery is captivating. Would you mind sharing? You don’t read off off of a teleprompter (i.e. your computer screen, script board) or do you memorize the script?
