Once, I invited a new girl friend to accompany me to a large ski resort for a 3 day weekend. The suite, (log cabin type walls & ceiling) was huge with a fully stocked wet bar, log burning fireplace, king size bed, & a jacuzzi. Only i time per day would we come out of our room to enjoy the dinner buffet. The only other thing that I can tell you, (here on YT) is that neither of us knew how or was ever interested in skiing……..

My best weekend was the night I proposed to my girlfriend. Before I popped the question the following happened. I was late for our date because of an apartment closing, a cat puked on her, it started to rain on us and i was going to pull the ring out anyway… and right before I did… she got hit with diarrehia because of the ice cream i bought (she lactose intolerant). And then when I asked her… i must have been so nervous… instead of a “yes”… I got a “what?” and had to repeat it.

Hi Mike, the contest video and the BWE #1 video on this site are slightly different. The reason for the look of the closer shots, is that the BWE videos are formated in wide screen format (16:9) letterbox. You can see the black borders on those videos. The video above is 4:3 format.with no black borders, so it looks closer.
Of course, Marina should correct me if I’m wrong.

Here’s one… that will make you laugh… seriously!
I am in grade 10 and come home for lunch. Mom is not home.
I go to check the mailbox and find a black briefcase
sitting outside near our front door. “What’s that doing here?”, I ask myself.
I get up close and see that it is so jam-packed full of stuff that you can see through the sides. I see lots of wires and weird things that are hard to recognize. I step away and phone my school friend next door to come over with his flashlight to have a look.
My friend is puzzled by this “mystery case” and we both start to “freak-out!”
We call the cops and they come and look… then they call the fire department. They are all looking at this suspicious item and whispering amongst themselves. They phone my Dad to ask if he has any enemies. He had no enemies.
Two firefighters take a pole and slide it through the handle and gingerly carry it to the back of the fire truck. The police car and the truck leave with the case. My friend and I are taking the afternoon off because “we’re a bit shakin’ up over all this.
Standing in the front yard we see my Mom walking towards us carrying a grocery bag from downtown. As she gets within hearing distance, she asks, “Did the TV repairman get here yet?”
OH BOY!!! The firetruck took the case out to the local dump/landfill and the police shot at it with their rifles.
Apparently, the TV guy came by (nobody home) went for lunch and thought he’d leave his case behind in a “safe spot”!! LOL

I too found this video’s Marina to be unfamiliar; her eyes look like piss-holes in the snow – did she forget her contact lenses or her Belladonna or did she have a hangover?
Also, it may be a bad camera angle, but her cheeks looked hollow making her look older – for a moment I wondered if it was her mother.

I watched the vid again Bob, to see what you’re talking about…”wondered if it was her mother”, harsh… Never got that vibe 1st or 2nd time. Marina is not a teen with no “charachter” to her face, but a very fit 27 year old. some of the shadows cast by the lighting bring out different features. almost a black & white quality to it. Some of the best photos I took of my kids, when they were little, were when I bought a roll of B/W film & played a little with the shdpws & stuff. Sticks out like a sore thumb (good one though) in the old photo albums & I like.

I remember back in school, the “cool kids” bragging about the “forgotten weekends” some of them are dead now & others have gone through programs to get “straight”. Graffiti art is interesting, some can be brilliant, other, just annoying, especially if you own a business & the general public visits you establishment. I have a couple of small businesses in an industrial area & graffiti of the annoyong kind shows up all over the place & owners etc have to get out the paint etc. to clean it up. I was told by someone, supposedly in the know, that taggers or a crew will hit certain “targets” & leave others, that one would think an obvious place to leave their mark, alone. I have big walls (not bragging there) that are exposed & readily available, but since 1985 not one tagger has hit me.
Now murphy says that tommorow I will have to clean up something, since I said it out loud. So don’t tell anyone.
Maybe your children or you know the taggers and they leave you alone. My son while in high school knew of a group of boys who like to beat up mail boxes. But because he knew them mine never go touched.

I remember back in the 60s and early 70s we used to call people square because they fit a certain life style like suits and ties, or people who obeyed every law and was prim and proper. We were the hippy generation and wore bell bottom pants tie dyed shirts and sandals had long hair and smoked dope. We didn’t conform to what people though that everyone should dress and act alike. So we were the round pegs that didn’t fit the square holes. If you weren’t cool then you were a square.

I have a short little story for you
Once upon a time, a ground meat patty was served in many restaurants in Hamburg, Germany. It became so popular there, they called this curious little patty the Hamburger. Then, it was spread worldwide. Since Americans are so lazy, we shortened it to “burgers.” The end
Here’s the long version, which traces it back to the time when ships went between Hamburg, Germany and New York City in the 1800s. At that time, they called it the “Hamburg Steak.”

Actually, the cite the origins back to Genghis Kahn, although this connection to the more modern hamburger is loose and far-fetched.

Speaking of meyster7’s story, the word “diarrhoea” was mentioned, and I was wondering about the origin of this weird word. Weird thing is that when you pronounce the word diarrhoea the letters ‘h’ and ‘o’ are silent
Actually, this all-time favorite intestinal problem is spelled differently. It’s : diarrhea. So, that explains the “O”….it was a clerical error.
Not sure about the “H”…unless it’s short for “H*ll”
I was going to wonder aloud if “diarrhoea” and “diorama” have the same root .. but the spelling’s different. … So i guess not. … So i won’t.
The fact that it’s pronounced “dire rear” seems significant.

Maybe whoever came up with that term was “drunk as a skunk” and screwed up the spelling whilst trying to write ‘dire rear’

Topic of my stories was beginners luck at the races winning daily double, winning big at roulette in Vegas and meeting Steven Spielberg who hired me as an extra on a sound stage, but I was never filmed.
