I like that made up look of yours with the shawl over your head. That looks romantic too. I grad school from 1985-1986 I would have a few beers in my apartment and scream along with my cheap stereo to casettes by U2, Genesis, Phil Collins, etc. I had the thing up so loud that I could not hear how bad It sounded. Well, the purpose of my comment went to me when I saw your video “Penny and dime” (did you know that the French word disme [also written dixme] has lost his mute “s” like in English and became dîme during the 18th century?). I wonder where the name “pound sterling” comes from. What I found is quite interesting because of a controversy about the origin of “sterling”. I found 4 possible origins:
1) steorra star (coming from a Norman word and the fact that the first coins had a star on them)
2) Easterlings (”men from the East”) because of the good reputation of merchants from Hanse
3) esterlin (name of a French currency) but I don’t know if the name sterling comes from esterlin or if the origin of esterlin is sterling.
4) sterlingus (a Latin word which may seem strength or stability)
I think it could be a good subject of investigation…

There is a website where you can upload your videos and be seen by millions.
There is a website where you don’t have to pay dime one, yet they will host your videos and show them to the whole world for you.
There is a website where an obscure person can plug away for a year, uploading videos, responding to comments, video responses, etc… and after a short while, the website says, oh.. and by the way, I’ll give you a (majority) piece of advertising revenue that I make from your videos.
There is a website, that as a result of using and sticking with it, you can end up getting BOOK DEALS, TV DEALS, MOVIE DEALS.. etc.. as a direct result of your success on this website.
There is a website that CONSUMES 5% of all INTERNET TRAFFIC IN THE WORLD… yet doesn’t charge the users who are the ones causing that massive consumption of these Internet resources.
The website that I am talking about is of course YouTube.
And if you don’t want to achieve success on the Internet using video and if you think being paid money for doing something you love is bad.. then PLEASE don’t use it. But if you’d like to succeed at any of those things.. YouTube is the QUICKEST way to achieve that, PERIOD.
Don’t listen to idiots who get all grumpy when others make money and they don’t . Well, there have been a couple years when I was working way-way more than spending enough time with friends or sleeping. However, I can also say that I was able to do more in those years than I would have been able to do otherwise and I live a more balanced life these days

The beauty of YouTube is the rawness of the videos that are uploaded. Why would someone choose to watch only slickly produced content? They can watch TV for that!
As for what a partner is… ANYBODY can become a partner now.. there are now tens of thousands of partners I think now. It simply means that they applied and filled out information on how to get paid the advertising money. It USED to be an exclusive club.. but they have now opened it up to everybody.
As for you… get your parents to sign up for you and get the checks sent to them.
I actually have applied twice and got the same reply “not enough views. try again later” so when I start to kick off a bit more I will try again, I am quite pleased with myself so far every day for the last 2 weeks my channel has had at least one honour for the most viewed comedian in the united kingdom, that, to me is a sure sign things are starting to look up for me now. When I turned 40years old, my appreciation for the human voice increased… after I’d taken my daughter to a live performance of La Boheme. I bought some Cecilia Bartoli albums. Speaking of which, the definition of the Japanese word ‘kara’ meaning ‘open’ made a lot of sense to me. I think that because, the word ‘karate’ means ‘open hand’. I like the way how some parts of words have the same meaning even if they are used to form other words.

You plan to do karate soon, perhaps you would be interested in other words that would fit well into that lesson.
For instance, there’s the Dojo, where people practice karate. The Sensei who teach, the Shihan who is master teacher, Sempai who are students, etc.
If you have time and are interested in the origins of other Japanes styles of martial arts that provide complimentary fighting skills to develop a well-rounded repertoire of self-defense techniques, you can use Judo or Akido (which fit in with Dojo too), or even Jujitsu.

The majority of my videos were filmed with my iSight.. when I am close to the camera, it’s my iSight camera
Seeing the quality of those videos made me think about a mac, before I would have never wanted one. My brother thinks its wrong that I might be/am going to buy a mac because I like the camera. But its not just that. Also being a windows guy it would be nice to try something new. I will always keep my laptop I have now though, I like it too much to get rid of it.
Isight is that some kind of improvement on the SAS’s famous Mark 1 human eyeball laugh out loud. I hate the fact i put the snow thing on and it causing me grief every single sentence.
James.. it’s not the camera on the mac that makes one buy a mac… it’s the fact that it comes with all this multimedia software already installed. I record my movies with iMovie (comes with the mac)… my theme song and the ukulele songs were written in Garageband (comes with the mac).. I even have a program that runs windows XP in a window on my mac if I ever need anything that only runs on a PC… but what I don’t get with the mac is the following:
I had a PC laptop that started running really slowly.. to the point where I couldn’t do anything on it. I paid a guy a couple hundred to fix it and he said it was so overloaded with spyware that he had to format the hard-drive and start all over again… so I elected to do that and lost some files (pics, docs) in the process. Then after about a month a friend was on my computer and all of a sudden there were pop-ups again.. and I was SOOOO pissed! I called my tech friend and he looked at it and said that I was overrun with spyware again that he would have to run these programs that take hours to run and it would cost me a couple hundred again… and at that point I got a mac and have NEVER had an issue with spyware/viruses ever again.
So.. from a creative point, you can’t beat a mac.. but from a productive point as well, you can’t beat a mac… as you don’t have to keep disinfecting the machine every few months or so.
Just my personal opinion and I understand why some people stick with PCs.. but I can run PC on my mac as well, so there is no reason for me to have a PC.
You are totally right there Marina. I do like the programmes you get with mac but when I looked in the shop they did seem a bit awkward (maybe because media player is so simple, but probably because I am not used to it.) Really I suppose it is only windows that gets viruses Mac/Linux don’t get them. What is a shame for me though is how other companies can’t put mac on their own computers. Dell for example puts windows on computers but Microsoft don’t make their own Microsoft brand, whereas it is the other way around with Apple.
When I got that virus I thought I might have to re-install but I was determined not to, in the end I downloaded and ran all the anti-viruses I could find at the same time and managed to remove it bit by bit. Only last week my brother caught it and my mum caught a different one! So from that point ANYTHING is better. I think I find Windows a bit easier to use than mac but so long as I can keep my laptop that I have at the moment I WILL be getting a mac sometime!!

check to see if you can get a free download from yours of
SPY-BOT Anti-spyware by Computer Associates. It’s pretty simple
and gets things that my Norton 360 doesn’t know about.
It’s incredible how quickly the “junk” can get back into a system.

My question relates to the many words in Australia (where I live) that have been abbreviated using “ie” such as “barbie” for BBQ, “mozzie” for mosquito, “stubbie” for short bottles of beer and MANY others.

What the hell is wrong with youtube. Apparently my most recent video is the one I made 2 days ago, and the one I just put up isn’t! so I had to paste the link into the featured video bit.. MY GOD! and sometimes when I upload a video it changes my picture to the thumbnail of that video..! I didn’t tell it to do that.. so why the f*ck is it doing it!!!
I always paste the link into the featured as it never seems to work and on your personal profile page you have it set to make your icon the latest video… turn that off.

But when I learned to play guitar as a child, I liked to sing cowboy songs, like: Home on the Range, California, Here I Come, Battle Hymn of the Republic, The Man who shot Liberty Valence, and the Yellow Rose of Texas.
