Hi Marina! i wondered about this phrase in the same way as you did. It is rather annoying. Glad you did it.

I would think “Couldn’t care less” is indifferent as you said. Perhaps an abandonment of any constructive action towards something. Perhaps one would be caring less if he wasn’t just ‘leaving something or someone alone’ and was engaging in destructive action towards that something or someone! perhaps that is caring less….

Well I am feeling a bit philosophical with all this. Perhaps I should change my name to….. “thoughtforwords”
