phrase request: [ cat got your tongue ?] this is sometimes said to people who are not speaking for responding when they ought to be. How did this come into meaning? It makes you envision a cat running around with a human tongue in its mouth as a reason for somebody not being able to speak.. Hot for Words needs to investigate!
