    Hehe, I like the ‘tan gent’ joke. Anyway, I’d say LP records rotate, but I suppose that’s my bias, being a science graduate.

    Was Obama wrong when he wrote that he learned the earth “rotated around the sun” (vide “The Audacity of Hope”)? I was always taught that the earth [rotated] on its axis as it [revolved] about the sun. The definitions in the online dictionaries I use are unclear about this. Webster says that rotate means to turn ABOUT an axis, revolve, but thefreedictionary says that, plus to turn ON an axis. This indicates to me that Obama was right after all and that Webster seems to be missing one definition. I also vaguely remember ROTATING functions about the x-axis in calculus class back in high school. So, I guess it’s okay to say the earth rotates on its axis as it rotates about the sun! Any thoughts, anyone?
