There appear to be two kinds of categories.
The Up votes which is the count of green votes,
the Down votes and then,
there is the combined votes; that is, the Up votes minus the Down votes. I had contacted the Wired to get clarification regarding the voting, but have not heard from them.
We know, recently, Marina’s photo took first place after several weeks of having been in first place for the green votes. Since they have negative voting, it makes sense to also make sure that she wins in the combined votes to ensure total success. Right now, Marina is 1,692 votes behind in combined votes.
Phil’s (up-down) minus Marina’s (up-down)
Once Marina also leads in combined votes, then there can be no dispute about the first place position.
I’ve been upping Marina & downing Phil…sorry Phil, had to.
Say I scroll down & “up arrow” iJustine… and imagine, if you will, I have a soft spot in my heart for the NCIS girl (Paullette, I think it is) & I click on her up arrow… does that in some way detract from my up Votes for Marina?

Great! Yes, continue to Up arrow Marina and Down arrow Phil, which essentially is worth 2 votes in terms of combined votes, which is what Marina needs.
