Associated Press

tv-ap-hfw1

The Associated Press did a 6 minute television special about me and what I do, how I do it, etc.  Starting today, this special goes out to over 200 countries!  So keep an eye out and let me know if you see it in your area!  I have not seen it yet, so let me know what you thought of it!

Also, let me know what show you saw it on so that I can try to get a copy from them.

Here I am on Polish TV.

The Netherlands.

On Arabic Television.

Here is a French version (I especially like the Marvin Gaye music in the background :-) )

Here it is on Korean Television.

Here is a version in English:

Hey Marina, Where did the phrase “She’s built like a brick shithouse” come from ? I’m sure they were thinking of you when they came up with that one. You are beautiful and very bright.

  5. tonyb says: 39

You are really just a “one woman operation”? Impressive.

can you tell me wath the word [Kill] means?

  7. Do they not have a russian version of this news spot? Marina, I think you should find out and post it with subtitles if you find it. I never realized how sexy the russian language can be until I heard it coming from you ;-)

    Very interesting…

I didn’t realise before you used a trio of fill lights to ensure you are illuminated to perfection…
…or how many of AP’s ‘long’ shots Gorby sauntered into…
    …or that you’re a two-finger typist!

Meanwhile, looking at the ‘homepage’ of your YouTube channel, I noticed the crafty use of [reverse psychology] (that would be worth a video or two) to encourage people to wander over here…

I have an odd expression that I heard the US Supreme Court make in the media and it was also something I mulled over as an 18 year old army private in 1978 [THE SPIRIT OF THE LAW VERSUS THE LETTER OF THE LAW]. I was getting away from friends and family, learning to think for myself on moral and religious issues by reading and applying the Holy Bible to my life as a Christian disciple. But I heard the Supereme court refer to this spirit of the law versus letter of the law recently. And sometimes you got to be your won lawyer in the army.THAT IS WHY I DO NOT THINK LIKE A DUMB NORTH TOLEDO POLLOCK!!!!!!

    A tweet from http://twitter.com/New_Media_Ger
representing a media site in Germany called
    http://www.guenstig-leben-bauen.de/
has the above AP video embedded on this page at the bottom:
    http://www.guenstig-leben-bauen.de/89/Internet-TV.html

The title of the web site,
    guenstig-leben-bauen refers to lifestyles:
guenstig could be translated as a bargain or opportune
leben refers to existence, living or to be alive.
bauen refers to edify, construct, build

    Marina,

I did not know about the lyrics of this song until just now! I had overheard this song a few times (someone else playing it loudly or on the radio while I was driving etc.), but had never thought that its lyrics might be interesting!

While the lyrics are interesting, I have to reserve judgment on the nature of masculinity and on the view of sex expressed in that song until I have had more experience. What makes me doubtful about that song is that it treats sex as a bandage (a tool for healing) and that it is a man’s pleading.

In contrast, my inclination is to regard sex as an assertive celebration — an healthy, greedy (greedy meaning insatiable or wanting more and more), active assertion — with increasing intensity of greed and of assertiveness — desired by and driven by one’s mind as one gives expression to one’s desire and drive by means of one’s choice and one’s body — leading to an unbearable enjoyment of one’s own body and mind — an unbearable enjoyment experienced in one’s own body and mind and, perhaps?/hopefully?, reflected in one’s lover’s body and mind.

Is that an hypothesis? A delusion? Or an achievable goal to be had for real by those who have earned the right to it? The right being earned by the living of a rational, purposeful life on this earth.

    Hi Marina,

What is the origin of the phrase [the exception proves the rule] ?

    Thanks

  15. Norbert says: 28

    Hi Marina,
in the new song Human performed by The Killers, the lyrics says “are we human or are we denser?” Would you mind explaining the meaning of the word denser? I haven’t found it in any dictionary. I have seen an internet discussion where some people think it means robot and another ones think it means “less than human”.

    Thanks and kisses.

  16. Marina in French TV

The French news channel LCI has used the AP material to make a longer story about Marina:

  17. Marina says: 25

Here is another version from the Netherlands: http://www.telegraaf.nl:80/buitenland/3311276/__Talenhit__.html?p=15,2

The entire piece was MUCH longer and really went into a lot of detail. I’ll let you know if I see that one anywhere.

  18. Hello. Did you know that the word “Hello” has only been around for about 150 years? How did I know that? Well, I learned that and more by watching a 6 minute video featuring Marina Orlova (a.k.a.) HotForWords that was just recently put out by The Associated Press. I also know what the initials a.k.a. stand for and how that relates to “noms de plume” (*teehee*giggle*giggle*)

  19. cufan71 says: 22

    AWESOME Marina :!:
So  to see the behind the scenes of you making your videos :!:

  25. What station or channel, what kind of shows? Is it like a commercial or on an actual show?

  26. wyo550 says: 14

    Good good good!
The AP video will show up on newspaper sites like NY Times and open up new audiences and product markets- non internet- internationally.
ABC affiliate feed video of my drive in painting made it all the way across USA. That was 1991. This feed for you will go WILD!
The video hasn’t yet been posted on AP’s web site:
LINK (with search “Hot for words”)
    http://www.aparchive.com/Default.aspx

    Good photo above (esp hair).
It matches what came into your Robertson Blvd address this morning. You’ll be perfect! Enjoy :-) arf arf to Gorby

  27. Dear Marina,

Tell me what I have to do to get an autographed copy of that photograph above – you “in” the T.V. (The actual photo). Do you want money? Have a car that needs washing? Do you have a yard I can fly out there and mow? Just name it.

    Wow!

  28. leonard says: 12

Marina: will you keep us students up on the information, in regards to sales of your video downloads…actually, I would be [nosey] about the top 40. thank you and get rich…

  29. I just sent an e-mail to AP to see if they will give me the date and time of the airing of the show or article. If they let me know Marina will be the first to know then she can let you know the times. So [keep your fingers crossed] Humm phrase request.

  30. fatbuffalo says: 10

Is there a channel for this ? Maybe i don’t have it in my country == watch it on youtube

  31. Hmmm? I wonder… uhhh… when this organization does a 6 minute piece of work… where do they put it? Entertainment News program? Why don’t they give Marina more info and be more specific?

    • If anybody finds out “the where and when” that this will be broadcasted… please send me some smoke signals… two big billowy smoke clouds in the sky means… “I give up!”

    • hs4mm says: 9.2

AP, Reuters, and a few others are “news services” — they create “news-products” and “put it out there”. Actual broadcast (radio/TV) stations, newspapers, Yahoo! etc. (who pay these news services) can pick up any news-product they think will help their business and broadcast/print/html it.

  34. Neat! It’s about time. This should put a damper on the wannabes vying to be Ms YouTube. None of them have any of the nutritional production value of Marina’s work.
    Speaking of wannabes:
Obama must be paying attention – he sounds more sober today but I bet he’s STILL drinking on-the-job. Any other government official doing that would be shit-canned on-the-spot.
