Nerd Word of the Day: Blargument

Today marks the first installment of the Nerd Word of the Day.

Today’s word is brought to you by Alexandra Gorbokon who also thought of the name for “Nerd Word of the Day”!  Thanks Alexandra!

And today’s word is: blargument.

A blargument is an argument between people that takes place on blogs.  Since a certain amount of anonymity exists on the net allowing for so many full-blown arguments, someone felt it necessary to create a whole new word for this type of discourse!

Is that the term that’s used before it becomes intense enough to be called a ‘flame war’?

I kind of like flame war. It reminds me of Willie Pete.

That is the beauty of language. It grows as new occasions arise.

“someone felt it necessary to create whole new word for this type of discourse!”

uh… it would sound much better like this:

“someone felt it necessary to create a whole new word for this type of discourse!”

Is it wrong to omit the “a” sometimes? Or is it right, but just sounds incomplete (to some)…
I know the story that there is no “a” in Russian, but hey, if we don’t tell her about these things, who will?

I was really hoping for another video, as well. Maybe it would just be too time consuming. Or perhaps Marina simply just doesn’t have any attire “nerdy enough” for NWOTD.

Whatever the reason, I’m just glad this feature was added. Maybe in the future, we will get an additional dose of Marina. If and when that day comes, I will be the first to celebrate.

    Cheers.

I like ’sniperpost’ it’s when someone leaves comment replies all over a forum in the slow hours of the night.
You wake up the next morning the page has been ’sniperposted’ by a ’sniperposter’.

Why Blogument could work as well :???:

A “blog” is short for weblog, or posted comments on a website.

An “argument” is a group of statements intended to persuade.

Therefore, my series of posts on HotForWords is a “blargument” to get Marina to sleep with me. (I thought I’d have to send her flowers and candy, first.)
