What was that that “Bitch thing about?” Go figure. Jimj1245

Chaperone or chaperoni. :?: What-the-fucc-ever, an outdated and humiliating social practice that only found its way into premodern times (ssooo 20th century  ) via bourgeois need to “protect” their offspring from doing what Mother Nature intended them to do in the first place! These days, here in what is known as REALITY, teenage guys n gals have cell phones w/ texting (or “sexting”) abilities and/or speed-dial in case things get out of hand. So, if John finally wins Heather’s little head-game of hard to get and convinces her to go out w/ him Saturday night to the Coldplay concert ['cos nothing's safer than being in a public place crowded w/ thousands of loaded, horny & sometimes violent teens/ college kids/ adults (potential pedophiles  ); 90% of which are just trying to get laid at all costs], and after a magical evening of: ear-busting music, both kids getting groped/ propositioned by 100s of strangers, getting soaking wet from everyone’s spilled beverages, getting into/avoiding/watching a dozen fights between intoxicated wanna-be’s (who fight like victims of bitchassness), eventually agreeing to “go somewhere more private”, and paying $50 for a $15 t-shirt on the way out. The lovely couple eventually make it back to their vehicle for some quality time by themselves. Now, after 20-45 mins. of kissing, stroking, licking, panting, and desperate bargaining [depending on who paid for everything] Heather stops playing the role of the chaste goody-2-shoes snake-teaser and lets John claim his carnal prize!
The moment of Truth & Judgement is upon us! If Johny-boy knows what he’s doing from countless hours of self-servicing porn study (actually paying attention to the whole turn of events instead of just skipping to the “good parts”) and impresses Heather w/ his skills-that-pay-the-bills, then a great time is had by all, leading to a RELATIONSHIP or at least friends w/ benifits. But, if John fumbles n bumbles around like an ignorant little virgin, keeps repeating how sorry he is for every mistake, skips the foreplay and/or discharges his firearm before getting the chance to draw down on Heather’s kitty — within 2-3 days EVERYBODY at school/work/whatever is laughing at poor John and his complete lack of carnal knowledge/ self control!! Dumbass probably didn’t even suspect her of texting/calling all her fake friends while he was patting himself on the back and disposing of the soiled condom(s) no matter how things went…
If you’re still reading this, the Moral of the Story is : Today’s chaperones are tiny, digital devices known as “cellies”. Oh, and there is no such thing as true privacy anymore. Got to bounce now! (late for my appointment w/ my therapist  )

  9. Teacher, I was reading this story — and while it is an intriguing one for anyone, I would think you would particularly enjoy it — and the word [ruse] is found in its title.

The nature of the article also leads me to raise my hand for other relevant words: [spy]; [spook]; [cloak-and-dagger] … or whatever suitable [espionage]-related word you may fancy.

    .

    Marina,

It seems WordPress (WP) supports a RSS feed for All Comments! Yeah! Elaboration:

There is a known bug that has been fixed here; but if that bug report is all gobbledygook, here’s a live web-site that implements RSS feed for All Comments; on the illustrative web-site, note the RSS button labeled COMMENTS in the top-right of the web-page — I think this one button allows one to capture, via RSS, comments anywhere on the entire site (and not just comments on the page on which the button appears).

So, Marina would you please consider supporting a RSS feed of All Comments? If that thing works the way one expects it to work, and if it does not have strange side-effects, then having such a feed will save me a ton of time!

    Thanks,

    –Hs4Mm

    Dear Marina,
Here are some word requests. Since you started this new category, they are “Nerd Word Requests.”

[404 Not Found] We’ve all seen it. Does it mean, “For the 404th time, that webpage can’t be found.” (It actually is a status code invented by Tim Berners-Lee, who creaded the world-wide web in 1992.)

[PDA], for an ancient device called a “personal digital assistant.” Today’s iPhones do much more than a PDA. It also stands for “Public Display of Affection.” Wouldn’t it be nice to show PDA with Marina on Rodeo Drive?

[Click-Through] You use them. It’s a link on a webpage or YouTube video that takes you to another website. Since you’re a “hot customer” are these pages able to capture my name, e-mail address and other info.? There are many “click-throughs” on your pages.

  32. seesixcm6 says: 67

    Dear Marina,
Looks like I must agree with everyon else and guess CHAPERON, which becomes PERON if you remove three letters. As for the three prizes?
    1. I already receive many advertising calendars. I know your calendar is very beautiful, but it’s more than I need.
    2. Because you sent them, I already have many photos of you, from the holidays, and from Twitter. (Even though you scared me one morning with that photo while you wore a green facial treatment!)
    3. A phone call? I already know the sound of your voice from watching your videos. I pay the phone company extra each month to have an unlisted phone number. So I’d have to give you my secret phone number for you to phone me.
I’ve apparently become a spoiled customer of yours. I frequently view your videos and rate then Five Stars, While I should be happy just to see you and hear you, I still have the urge to feel, touch, and move with you! (Note: This is a suggestion for a different kind of prize!)

  34. The answer is “Chaperon(e)”

  35. russianboy says: 64

Here you can see what does my dictionnary shows:
    chaperon(e)

  36. paulhenry says: 63

    Hey Marina…
I think the word is [chaperon (chaperone with the added 'e')]. Seems like a lot of people have already got this one though.
On the off chance that I should win, however, could you somehow warn me before you call as I don’t want my girlfriend to find out  …oops

  37. Che Volay says: 62

What happen to the little box where you can click on all the recent lessons?

    • Hi Che Volay, I think that box is no longer here on the “sub-pages”, but you can still see it on the “Home” page. It show the recent three lessons. Click on the “Home” link in the upper left of the page. Also, you can see the video lessons in reverse chronological order by clicking the “Video” link in the upper left hand corner of the page.

      • It’s not the video in which I need quick reference to, It’s the need to visit the different comment pages.
If someone hasn’t made a recent comment on a video you can’t get there that way.

So I have to exit the comment page to go to the home page to come back to a different comment page.

So if I’m not on the home page I can’t see any new post until someone make a recent comment. Unless I monitor Twitter.
Not the end of the world here, I just get use to doing things a certain way. It natural to resist change.

Maybe if there was a good reason for this change……

  49. swampwiz says: 50

    The word is CHAPERON(E)

  50. Chaperone I’m guessing. Single people, especially kids, hate them.

  51. nelgenyam says: 48

Sacrebleu! Why did I not think of this word before (not a guess the word game entry)
Perhaps the word “Dalliance” would be of interest to the civilized world?

  52. MooN-ShoT says: 46

    chaperon
Why would you hate someone that is older and wiser than you?
    That’s just

    • Marina says: 46.1

‘Cause they try to stop you from doing all the bad stuff that you shouldn’t be doing!! Of course we don’t learn this until much later in life! :???:

      • DISAGREE WITH THE WISDOM PART MAYBE MORE KNOWLEDGEABLE BUT, AGE DOESN’T DISCRIMINATE ON WISDOM…

        • Oh, come on. While it isn’t a given that all older people are wise, and younger people cannot possess some amount of wisdom, are you saying, all other things being equal, that a twenty three year old, having lived his or her life experiences, has amassed the wisdom of a fifty year old person?

          • In the incentive older individuals still learn from there mistakes and are still capable of learning. A younger individual may profit more knowledge from an older person and apply it as wisdom… There maybe a chosen few in which wisdom was directly granted; some may argue Joan of Ark as one? Marina could you help us with both definitions please? Thank appreciate you mucho!

  53. Homework: CHAPERON

Even if I’m right, it’s still a SWAG because I haven’t been around YouTube long enough to have made the connection with peron75/Buckley that many of you knew about. I knew Marina called him her internet boyfriend, but “peron75″ was new to me.

    • hs4mm says: 45.1

I had never heard of peron75 before today either … what I did was go to hotforwards page on YouTube and look at the list of all the videos she marked as favorite — the only channel that matches 5 letters and 2 numbers is pheron75! BINGO! (I did know that Bucky is her “YouTube boyfriend” and remember reading her comment indicating that she considered him a nice guy.)

  54. Bob says: 44

If you take away the L from leprechaun and change the U to an O, what do you have an [anagram] of?

  55. obfuskation says: 43

Gah, beat me to it. I knew I should have taken a half day at work today.

  56. kenito says: 41

I would Luv to see HOT FOR WORDS find the origin of the word……….. TURD .
I know this sounds excretionally weird, but…… (ha ha) I was watching the movie, WEIRD SCIENCE, and that scene of the TURD appeared. I immediately
wondered where the origin came from. I’m sure HOT FOR WORDS can really do a great job “flushing” out the answer. Ha ha ! !

Always a pleasure to see Marina explain an origin of a word.

I highly suggest wearing an outfit wearing a French beret…..

Fake glasses would make you look more GEEK-ish …. if that’s the look your going for………

  57. Homework: Chaperon (sometimes spelled chaperone)
Single men and women do not like them (around),
Very popular around male priests awhile ago,
(because of pedophelia issues concerning parents
    of young boys?)
Remove three letters and add 2 numbers to get a
YouTuber’s screen name, Marina likes very well.
Peron75 seems to fit this answer, unless the “e”
    is included; then it’s perone75
    .
I will admit I did not know all of the information
necessary to give such complete answer, but…
Hey! I’d like to get a phone call from Marina as
much as any other hot red blooded, single
    man in this room!
I’m wishing me good luck on the “random” draw
    .
Oh yeah, thanks Marina. I’m not bored on this
fine St. Patrick’s Day. We haven’t had rain in three
monthes, but today we got a nice douching.
Everything will be green again, tomorrow….

    • hs4mm says: 40.1

GTW game involves word origins — connection to priest has to do with origin of word chaperon! (Mentioned in my answer 31, 31.1 below.)

      • I read your comments below.
English is my native tongue, and the game is called
“Guess the word”, not Guess the word origin – sorry.
In my answer, I restated the clue accurately.
Awhile ago there were many stories involving priest/pedophiles
        in the news.
Marina does not say this clue has to do with the word’s origin, as it relates to priests.
I think you have misinterpreted this somehow.

        • hs4mm says: 40.1.1.1

          .

OK – In my answer, I covered three connections: priests acting as chaperons, priests needing chaperons, and the clothing of priests (as it relates to the origin of chaperon). Of the three connections, I believe the one Marina had in mind was the one between the priest’s clothing and the origin of the word.

We’ll know what she had in mind when the answer comes out.

My take is that GTW actually means Guess the Word Based on Clues Relating to the Word’s Origin. This game happens on a site devoted to the origin of words; and the GTWs I have been involved with (hacker, curfew, gargoyle, matrix, maudlin, and this one, chaperon) have all involved the origin of the word.

          –Hs4Mm

          • Yup! You definitely misinterpreted the clue.
When you say your “take” indicates to me you
are reading more into what is said, than is being
stated. You didn’t take the clues at face value.
(I got some of the information in my response
from your answer, by the way )
Until Marina explains the clues, we have to
muddle through as best we can…

  58. hs4mm says: 39

I thought I saw some comments in colored fonts … but I could not color my text. I was thinking of writing my joke (6.1.1 below) in white font, so that only those who wanted to read it could do with by selecting the text. But I could not get any colored font, and ended up presenting the ending of the joke as an image.

Anyway, can one use colored font for comments and if so, how?

  59. The word is DEACONESS. Take away  DEA and you get conessa, then just add a cross symbol “T” into conTessa and you get Venetian Princess. And of course Marina likes Venetian Princess, she’s very likeable!

  60. Che Volay says: 37

Our dear teacher is mentioned is this funny song about YT’s sad state of affairs. Will Hyler – Here on YouTube

  61. hs4mm says: 36

By the way, in judging the answers, I think it is important to judge the completeness of the answer: two spellings, connection to single people is too obvious and can be omitted, connection to priests, and, importantly, connection to YouTube channel.

  62. bsomebody says: 35

I will “guess” chaperon(e), and the YTer is peron75.

    • bsomebody says: 35.1

addendum per hs4mm: Priests would desire a chaperon in lieu of the scandals involving young boys. Many doctors have female nurses who act as chaperon in some cases. As a teacher, I make sure that I am never alone with a student behind closed doors. As a parent, some of the things just seemed right. For instance, whenever I gave my daughters a bath, I always made sure the door was open. I did not require myself to be chaperoned, but I also know that appearances often count for more than facts do.

      • My mom told me that nuns always traveled in pairs, it you watch the movie Doubt you will see examples.

        • alex says: 35.1.1.1

yeah, the mormons do. their missionaries. it’s either two guys or two girls. probably so they don’t get tempted or something. too bad, a lot of them sisters look pretty good.

          • After Catholic school I went to religious instructions as they called it. The priest there was really cool, taught us about sex (with girls).
He was from an old money family, upgraded the bland church car to a Ford Thunderbird.
He ended up getting married to a nun, wish I knew the story behind that connection.

          • Now the Jehovah Witness would send some pretty girls around on Saturday morning.
The problem was it was Saturday morning, after a Friday night of drinking and dancing it was so inconvenient to wake up to someone preaching.
A friend of mind figured out a way to get rid of them, no so much the pretty gals or their very doable mothers but the guys in suit & ties.
He would answer the door with a cigarette and beer if that wasn’t enough to run them off he would open his rope & show his junk.
They must have put him on a list after that no one ever came back.

        • It’s OK to kiss a nun, as long as you don’t get into the habit.

      • hs4mm says: 35.1.2

bsomebody, Thanks for the citation of my answer (31, 31.1 below), but the citation is incomplete — there is more information in my answer: GTW game involves word origins — connection to priest has also to do with origin of word chaperon!

  63. I would have to guess chaperon
When I was younger I never needed one because I was always so innocent and never did anything to cause any need for a chaperon.

  64. Class, clearly what’s going on here with the [allure] of a phone call from Marina is that Teacher has devised a clever way to get my phone number.

Firstly, she threw away my homework when I penned that epic limerick, hiding behind the facade of the bizarre and inexplicable disappearance of the Lesson of Annotations. Secondly, she’s shunning a whole entire holiday and its traditions by snubbing the requests of limerick & leprechaun, alongside a growing list of other HF_HFW-suggested superior words just waiting to be investigated and defined.

Now, I could solve this equation on the board, but instead I’m going to walk out of class because, well, I’m the kind of kid who wears orange on St. Patrick’s Day. But I’ll still pinch her on the way out since she’s not wearing green.

    • Evan Owen says: 33.1

Patience, laddie, as a Russian, Marina can’t be expected to immediately understand the importance of this Celtic holiday and its traditions. (Lady M, I recommend Thomas Cahill’s How the Irish Saved Civilization.)

Now then, if your limerick has disappeared, please re-post it, as I’m not wantin’ to be the only one here posting them.

As far as Irish traditions, me father (may he rest in peace), whose pedigree included not only Welsh but both orange and green Irish, told me the story of a man caught in a street battle in Belfast, and sheltered in a doorway to escape the bullets. A combatant running by spotted him, stopped and demanded, “Protestant or Catholic?” Not knowing which answer would save his life, the man answered, “I’m an atheist!”

“Aye, but are ye a Protestant atheist or a Catholic atheist?!”

  65. russianboy says: 32

    Oh my God Marina!
Could you please do one GTW in russian?
PLEASE! If i win, you can call me in Moscow and you can talk to me in Russian!!

  66. hs4mm says: 31

    .

    Answer: Chaperon[e] and peron75.

Incidentally, I actually got peron75 before chaperon! Because peron75 has something to do with what Marina likes! I know that better than I know “social norms/customs”!

    –Hs4Mm

    .

    • hs4mm says: 31.1

      .

Regarding the connection to priests: Some might think a priest would act as a chaperon; but others — including myself — would say that a chaperon is needed when priests are around kids!!! Priests are twisted. Another connection would be “head covering, hood” maybe popular among priests.

I actually looked up Chaperon in the OED after I wrote my answer and before the Official answer came out, but didn’t get a chance to enter an extract from the OED: (1) A hood or cap formerly worn by nobles, and after the 16th C. by ladies; (2) part of the full dress (habit) of the Knights of the Garter.

Be careful who you call Marina. They could be really nasty. At least if you ring any of us you know we are already controlled enough by your sophisticated mind control techniques not to ask you to do innappropriate things. We will ask appropriate things.. Like in my case, how to spell innappropriate ..

Yo ho ho my dear estimated fellow students! Hey, today is St-Patty’s day!! How are we doing?

I probably said no, nay, never no more will I play the wild rover no more in the past, but heck, it’s time for beer, pints of Guiness! Stout by the barrel, by the truckload!! I think a little leprechaun dance is de rigueur while we’re still on our feet, exiting the class for today!

Just a parenthesis, I think the teacher trusty, best of the west HVR-V1U is mounted a little too high in this video. We can’t distinguish very well her stupendous bo.. erm.. her stupendous blackboard background.

Marina when your videos play back they show that they play back at either HQ35, HQ22 or HQ18. Does the chipset in our computers pick up on what signal is best for it and play back to suit it’s need for best picture quality?

Hope you are having a great Patty’s day.
I would like to request the word [smitten]. I think the meaning has changed in the last 10 years.

  82. My guess is Chaperone, too. Does spelling count because I spell it with an “E”, even though I’m a guy.

    Dear совершенная Марина,
To see if it gets stolen, I posted the answer of “crackers” on YouTube. Remove three letters and you get “Acker.”
Here’s a request: Please change the Roman Numeral on your video title “16″ is actually “XVI”, not “VI” (which is six). The title should be “GTW XVI.”
(It’s a side benifit from having seen so many Superbowl Games! I’ll post my actual answer to your GTW XVI game, later.)

If anyone wants to back up their claim on Chaperon(e), My question is… who is the Youtuber she likes minus 3 letters add 2 numbers?

Are these ppl you hate often seen at the high school dance?

I use to go to a Catholic school dance, the priest there were in charge of “monitoring” us youngins. On more than one occasion
while dancing to close to my girlfriend this priest would come up to us, separate us and then say, “Leave room for the Holy Ghost.”

      • hs4mm says: 6.1.1

        .

I am tempted to mention a joke I heard while in a Catholic high-school (about 13 yrs old). It was probably the very first joke I ever heard; I enjoyed it even more because even then I had a low opinion of priests and could see that the events in the joke could actually happen. A woman goes to a priest and tells him she wants to become holy and asks him for guidance. The priest says he can help her become holy and asks her to visit him that evening.

Since the joke is not clean, you’ll need to click here to read rest of joke.
