…Celebutards are so common, I find it difficult to actually name any.
….People of Executive, Financial, Government, Political, Entertainment and Judicial that mainstream America couldn’t find a use for in the everyday course of life. Well compensated and special privileged to give them something to do to keep them out of mainstream America’s “hair”. They are the “Trophy’s” of American ingenuity and abilities of finding a use for almost anyone too the service of American Mainstream society.
…Not a group of people that most Americans aspire and strive to be included.

I agree with Me Lika on this one… Bono has to be high on this list, along with Tom Cruise. The more you think about it, the longer the list gets.

Maybe that just indicates the effects that fame has on people in general.

Many people are organizing an attempt to do away with the word retarded. I’m not sure I am in favor of banning the word, but I do think it is important that intelligent people consider the ramifications of using the pejorative terms. Let’s be aware of the harm we can cause when we use words to express negative feelings.

Stupidity, if not chronic, is like a cold. It comes and go, sometimes fast, sometimes slow, and can be replaced by strikes of true genius. I think all famous persons can be stupid sometimes. Which doesn’t mean that all famous persons are stupid of course!

The doctor sees all the weakness of mankind; the lawyer all the wickedness, the theologian all the stupidity.

Rush Limbaugh, O.J. Simpson, Tom Cruise, remember the girl named New York with her own reality show?, Jessica and Ashley Simpson, George W. Bush …

  18. Oh Geez – I can think of a few. Without even blinking…
Sean Penn, Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, Anna Nicole Smith (i know – she’s dead), Barbara Streisand (Mecha Barbara!), Bono, Alanis Morrisette, Britanny Spears, Michael Jackson, Michael Moore, Rosie O’Donnel, Whoopie Goldberg, Tom Cruise, Tim Robbins, Sineaid O’Connor …. the list just goes on and on
The ones who are really bad try to pass as knowing about global warming and politics..The only thing they truly know is green is the money they’re losing at the box office.

    • James says: 25.1

ALANIS MORISETTE! WHAT THE HELL MAN!

      • She is a vapid skull full of mush with her theories on global warming, etc.
She is one of the supporters for this stupid event planned to turn off the lights for an hour to “save the earth”. It’s all “feel good” bullshit with no practical purpose. In fact, there are backlash groups planning to go the other way and burn every light in the house, turn on every appliance, etc. I know one guy who is even going to use a jumper wire to disable the switch on his can opener, just so he can run it for a solid hour.
Nobody on either side of this has thought it through and come up with a reasonable answer, so all the attention is getting focused on the extremes.
Celebrities like Sean Penn and others, who have no qualifications behind their erratic beliefs, should be taken as examples to follow.
Alanis is fine as a performer singing about how she’s the “victim”, but it is a natural result of the decisions she makes.

        • oops! (no more edit function)
should NOT be taken as examples to follow.

        • alex says: 25.1.1.2

hey, she played god in “dogma.”

        • I just don’t know what to say… :???: Do you really think that a symbolic act, designed to draw attention to a perceived problem is a worthless act. Do you also feel that one who desecrates the American flag is simply practicing free speech? Symbols have meaning that far exceed their physical attributes (I know you and I agree on that … right? Whether or not you agree with their ideology, don’t you think it is wise and responsible to use a position of influence and actually do something to increase awareness?

          • Don’t be so ridiculous! “Do you feel…”
Please, don’t even talk about burning my flag. It is insulting to those of us who took a vow to defend it in your name! I plan to have a funeral with one of those draping my mortal remains, some day – that’s how serious I am about that. I earned it by my service. It is a hell of a lot more that a symbol.
Using a position of celebrity does make you responsible to provide good examples for people.
John Wayne, Glenn Ford, Henry Fonda, Bob Hope – just to name a few, are good examples of the men produced by this country. When you say “increase awareness”, do you mean aid and abet those engaged in selling the myth that man is responsible for “global warming/cooling” for profit?? Al Gore is a despicable human being for that. Add him to the list of celebutards.
People who actually stand for ideals don’t do it to profit from the ignorant and the uneducated.
Ford has a fleet of cars they can’t sell because nobody wants them! Their solution is to ask for a gas tax to force America to buy them by making gas and oil expensive. The technology to compete with the internal combustion engine doesn’t meet the challenge. We could have an entire arguement about the energy policies of the US, but the reality is our lives depend on oil. Do you remember when glass was used instead of plastic in the food industry?
Ideals without substance in reality are just bits of rhetoric with no inherent value.
A symbolic act is exmplified by the guy who stood up to tanks in Bejing; that took guts and a will to stand for what was right – even when he stood alone. Uniting people behind stupid notions, is just stupid people uniting.
I remember when some were trying to organize one day boycotts to protest gas price gouging and profiteering by the oil companies. What a joke that was… The oil companies didn’t lose a dime and have raised prices. Although the price per barrel cost is way down (last time it was this low the cost to consumers was $.75/gallon) but the pump prices are starting to rise again (and no one is saying a word in protest).
To give an answer to your last question:
No. It is unwise and irresponsible to have uneducated celebrities tout their ignorance as wisdom, for any reason. Especially when those with the scientific facts and knowledge are being villified for disagreeing with the myths.
Did you know they want to ban black as a color for automobiles in California? Ridiculous arguements abound that have no credibility for that one. The answer is, don’t use your air conditioner at all, to save gas. I live in Florida and I never use mine, even on the hottest days of the season. But then, I’m not made of sugar, so I know I won’t melt.

          • I agree with you 100% about the flag (please do not forget that I also swore to defend the Constitution and served under that same flag.) That is the definition of a symbol: an object that represents something else, often a larger ideal or belief.

My only belief with you on this is that it seems a celebrity is responsible if he or she agrees with you and is foolish nonsense if someone takes an alternative viewpoint.

People who actually stand for ideals don’t do it to profit from the ignorant and the uneducated.

I think Rush Limbaugh profits from the ignorant and the uneducated, yet I would never try to infringe on his right to express his ideas, ridiculous as they are. Jane Fonda expressed some extreme negativity about our boys, but I would not have censored her. Once she had crossed the line, endangered our troops by revealing positions, etc., then that changed. She was guilty of treason and should have been sentenced as a spy.

I defended the right for all Americans to speak freely, not just those that agree with me. If a celebrity wants to use his or her fame to support AIDs research in Africa, or bring awareness of oppression in Tibet, that is great. If another wants to use their media to spread racist ideology, religious intolerance, and sexist hatred, then I will still defend their right, no matter how much I disagree with the message.

          • Whoops  should be “my only beef with you…

          • Amen bsomebody. Nobody has taken a vow to defend a flag. Our vows are, or were, to defend the Constitution.

In the 80s, it was common in the service to hear “I don’t agree with what you say, but I’ll die for your right to say it.” These days, disagreement seems to be met with derision; most commonly in the form of questioning somebody’s intelligence, morality or patriotism.

I just downloaded Firefox, but I can’t play any of the videos on here or on YouTube, without mentioning additional plugins, latest Flashplayer, and Javascript turned off.
It plays just fine on IE 7, and I think the Abode Reader 9.1 that I have should be good enough. I don’t know what the hell is wrong with it. Whether if it’s compatible with Windows Vista, Norton 360’s firewall, or if there is possibly 2 of same plugins on at once, or what? :???:

    omg…
How many of you actually know the meaning of the word “retard”?
    Just curious.

  21. From twitter.com link in the side bar.

    Definition:

    March Tweet·ness
(n). a madness brought on by basketball and tweets.

    http://marchtweetness.com/

Interesting that there are many new words being created from the use of twitter. Second thing I notice is now twitter.com is selling advertising. The are following google’s technique of doing little unintrusive text ads. This ad for marchtweetness comes from AT&T.

  22. I’m going to defend Paris Hilton simply for the fact that she would have made a sexy president!

  23. PageDoll says: 18

I see Good ol’ Paris is taking quite a lashing.
If I had to name a few I’d probably start with Brad pitt, Dr. Phil, Bill Maher, Madonna, Sxephil, OJ Simpson, Joy Bahar, Kim Kardashian, Sean Penn, Adam Sandler, all the Girls Next Door, and on and on.

I guess the list would never end. But who am I to judge, right?
After all, I’m not the one swimin’ in piles of cash.

    • There is big money in finding and promoting Celebutards. They are the most appealing to the masses. The days of super smart celebrities are long gone. I think Albert Einstein was one of the last great super stars that has some intelligence. Which begs me to ask the question “What would society be like if super smart people were treated like super stars?” Imagine if Albert stood on stage and rapped some smart phases? People followed him like a rap star. Would people want to imitate him and go to schools to smarten up? Would you find educational classrooms at every street corner like Starbucks? Instead of going to a basketball game we go to a lecture like TED. It would be interesting to see what it would look like if we idolized smart people instead of Celebutards.

    • igor.kh says: 18.2

That’s a long list, PageDoll. Why do you think they all deserve the celebutard label? For the record, here are my opinions, with evidence:

Brad Pitt – no – his recent choices of films and his involvement with charity and social issues
Dr. Phil – yes – his words speak for themselves, and he’s also a snake oil salesman (weight loss supplements)
Bill Maher – no – a reasoned and intelligent man, as seen e.g. in Religulous, though not completely well informed on medical issues
Madonna – yes – biblical mysticism, ‘nuf said
OJ Simpson – yes – he’s in jail for a reason
Adam Sandler – no – he’s a comedian and besides acting goofy, I don’t recall him doing anything objectionable

The others, I don’t know enough about to comment.

“I don’t really think, I just walk.” – Paris Hilton

  25. lmao! marinas very bold with these celbutards posted… Paris Hilton!

  26. mukmika. says: 14

These comments have me laughing so much, I can’t think of any Celebutards right now. Be nice to Paris, guys, she did’nt ask to be born blond and rich, and maybe not too bright.

    • Yeah we are kind of funny.

Why be nice to Paris? She had a choice. She chose to buy her way to stardom.

      • igor.kh says: 14.1.1

Actually, I don’t agree that Paris Hilton is stupid. Whether you want to be nice to her or not is another matter. It does look like she’s made more choices than people realize. Consider this quote:

I used to act dumb. It was an act. I am 26 years old, and that act is no longer cute. It is not who I am, nor do I want to be that person for the young girls who looked up to me. I know now that I can make a difference, that I have the power to do that. I have been thinking that I want to do different things when I am out of here. I have become much more spiritual. God has given me this new chance.

        ABC News (11 June 2007).

  27. papa mccain says: 13

Celebutards, there are so few that aren’t! The ones that get to me are the stars that because they’ve portrayed something they think they are now experts on the subject. Just shut up, read the script and entertain me. If you want to give me your opinion on acting, fine. If you want to give me your opinion biological warfare because you were in Twelve Monkeys or whatever, ain’t buyin’ it!

      • Sorry Cap’n. Leftover anger from seeing 3 employees with 30 years at my company laid off and having it referred to as “a headcount activity”. Good men, good techs now jobless.

        • Yeah I understand more than you know. It’s kind of hard to be Mr positive when everything around you is collapsing. It gets me down but I try a little harder to be Mr optimist in hopes that so of it will rub off on to the people around me. If it does it gets reflected back to me and makes me feel a bit better. Things will get better.. Wait a minute.. they are getting better. I see there things are starting to get better. We just have to weather the storm a bit longer and we will be rescued.

  28. koalabear says: 12

“What’s Walmart, do they sell like wall stuff?” — Paris Hilton

  29. pandion says: 11

I would say any celebrity who does not realize that their fame does not make their opinions more valid.

  30. freebird says: 10

 This is a quote from… the once, most powerful, “celebutard” in the world.

  33. Che Volay says: 6

Who else beside Paris Hilton let me think, I know there are a few out there because you see actors on talk shows, they have trouble communicating effectively, also saying “you know” “you know.”

Just not to bright when someone is not writing word for then to say.
