This beef needs to be heard. (Boef needs to be herd?)

There are too many people out there who are not merely insulting, but superfluously and stupidly insulting. Why do they bother?

The etymology of rude is no surprise in Latin, but English has, alas, lost the flavor of the origin. Could we borrow a wonderful Russian word of abuse which perfectly captures the essence? Marina will know exactly what I mean.

  2. vault says:

    Great performance, Marina.
My thoughts on haters seem to be the same as everyone else’s here, I just want to say that I loved the way you handled yourself in the comments of your older videos. In fact just a few days ago I laughed so hard when I saw how you handled the guy (Judetehdude) in your “Pedigree” lesson. I kind of miss that, but I don’t think such creeps are worth your time. You are more intelligent than them and it shows.

    Keep up the good work!

    Hi Marina,
I watched you the other night on the Factor and as always you were great. How many times have you been on? I have seen several. Keep the words coming!!

    Sincerely,

O’reilly is a ‘spud muffin’

  7. dmarkwith says:

    Marina,

Caught you on The O’Reilly Factor last night. You handled yourself wonderfully and came off as extremely intelligent, sophisticated, and beautiful. I didn’t think women like that existed anymore. Ha!

I’ve been on O’Reilly’s show a couple of times in the past. Hence, I know how harsh he can be. However, he really seemed to like you a lot, as well he should have. You presented yourself strikingly well.

I’d never heard of your site before. After seeing you converse with Bill, I had to check it out. Good job! Keep up the great work.

  8. faucetman says:

Marina, I LOVE YOU! I think you are terrific. Your ideas for your internet business are genious. To see an intelligent, sexy, beautiful, interesting, inovative, business woman is so refreshing. I love all your little ideas. Gorby is so cute too. Your little cartoons, your alter ego (sister), the out takes are cool. Your outfits, poses, accent, smiles, eyes, body language are all enticing. I can see you work hard on detail, content, and quality.
Ignore the Bozo’s rude (ignorant) comments. They mostly are lieing and do not represent what most of us think. I think you are wonderful! Best of success in all you do

  9. wetsuit5 says:

    Wow, Marina is 60?
    Who dah thunk it?
Enough of the words stuff old lady, we demand the recipe and instructions in detail for that soup. (Including the source of the water)
Must be Twinkees and water from the fountain of youth.

BTW tremendious job on your hair.
Looking a little like Heather Locklear in her hay day.

Ah gee wiz, first too young and now too old, I never get a break.

  10. danielpool says:

Hi Marina. I watched you on O’Relly factor show you did a very good job. You looked very pretty. You are a very successful beautiful young woman. And a lot of jealous cowards are jealous of you. Don’t let them steal anything from you enjoy your success. I wish you the best

  11. juliemarie says:

Hi Marina. I saw you on The O’Reilly Factor last night, and I wanted to tell you that I had the same thing happen to me. I was just as hurt and shocked as you are. Bill O’Reilly is correct, people hide behind the computer, you don’t know who they are, you can’t see what they look like, you don’t see any of their non-verbal communications. I found out if you are a woman who works out, who does things in your life, if you are attractive and smart, there are a lot of very unhappy women in this country. The country has an obesity epidemic, only about 10 percent of people in this country have a four year college degree, many women are dependent on men, many are in dead marriages, Hollywood pressures them to be thin and attractive, they are not able to do so and there are just so many miserable people now in this country. They show up on the Internet because they don’t have friends, don’t have lives, and it’s a place where they can say whatever they want and do whatever they want to people, because no one knows who they are. I have seen women turn into gangs on chat boards. One Russian lady was doing some modeling and she showed this gang of women her pictures. The women went nuts and they called Child Protective Services and tried to have her child taken away from her. Her husband is a doctor, and this gang of jealous women contacted the American Medical Association and tried to make trouble for her husband too. They got my real name, and they contacted my family, researched me, called me on the phone, tried to ruin my income, stalked me, all over my going to a gym and not being fat. It is a cruel mess over the Internet. Just consider yourself very lucky that you are not miserable like they are, that you are beautiful and smart and successful, which is why people are anonymously attacking you. Just say a prayer for them and hope they can face their problems one day instead of attacking strangers. Bill O’Reilly said the other day that when you are debating someone and they resort to calling you names, that means you won the debate. Don’t take bad people seriously.

Also, a judge in Texas recently ordered the website I had been chatting in to give up the real identities of several posters who had been slandering people in those boards to their lawyer. This now sets a precedent for law regarding Internet abuse. The more judges take action against Internet abuse, the more laws will be created. These people only do this stuff because there are no Internet laws, but that is changing. You may want to consult an attorney and find out what your rights are regarding people slandering you over the Internet. Take care.

  12. checmark says:

Marina, take great pride in the fact that Mr. O’Reilly respects you the way he does. There are those who suggest he has a crush on you (who doesn’t), which may well be true but Mr. O’Reilly is no fool. He would not let that cloud his judgment and he would tear you apart if he thought you were disingenuous. As he rightfully suggested, ignore all the nutcases who don’t get how well you have done for yourself.

Those of us who are not so shallow as to be jealous of your success are your true fans and have the ultimate respect for what you do. Keep up the excellent work!

  13. kittson says:

    Hey Marina!

I was surprised by your comments on O’Reilly last night. You are my favorite guest on his show, how could anyone say anything bad about you?

You are clever, ingenious and I admire what you do with your life. Those who criticize must feel small and want others to feel smaller.

Keep doing what you do, you are truly a delight and, of course, too hot for words!

  14. Jeorney says:

Marina, I guessed your beef correctly! Well at least my FOURTH GUESS was. I’m look forward to watching you on the show, but… do I get a prize, praise or whatever? :-)

Internet rudness (incl. flaming & cyber bullying) is practically everywhere. I have not been to one forum or chat room where this phenominon is not running rife. It’s like a disease that sets after few months for any new internet place. It’s almost as bad as the House of parliament!

I can only suppose there’s a lot of frustration in the world and people need to let off steam. Often, it’s people just testing your ‘mettle’. If people feel the need to push at the boundaries, why not resort to good natured cheekiness. It’s more enjoyable, by far, and often a good counter to any class-room devilry.

  15. dirtyjoecool says:

    sorry…. per request below [Entrepreneur]

  16. dirtyjoecool says:

I am not sure what to say here. I dont usually write on these sites and am suprisingly flabberghasted. I am just seeing your website for the first time, yes I saw your interview tonight. Well done. Good Job. You certainly have my attention during your lessons. LOL. The word I’d most enjoy seeing you explain would probably be “Entrepreneur”. I’d like to wish you the best of luck and look forward to the next lesson.

Broadcast also is due for a reversal, as Barclays now believes the big four network TV outlets will fall 10 percent to $14.5 billion, versus its previous projection of negative 8 percent. And while the firm only two months ago saw cable increasing its take by 1.8 percent, Barclays now sees national cable dropping 2.9 percent in ‘09, to $20.2 billion.

Only the Internet seems to stand a chance to grow next year, as Barclays predicts a 6.1 percent spurt in the sector, with ad dollars hitting the $25.1 billion mark. Search could grow by as much as 20 percent, while display will show more moderate development, increasing by 4 percent.

  18. nouveaudebut says:

I watched the interview and I thought it was great. I like your attitude towards the cowards who try and bring you down. You are very attractive and vivacious and you should ignore, or continue to ignore the idiot cowards who have nothing better to do than to talk trash. I liked Bill’s suggestion that your staff edit the crap out before you get to read them. Good luck and keep up the good work!

  19. I guess that there are a lot of reasons why the internet is not a friendly place.

First off, people simply don’t realize that they are speaking in public to a real human being. We all are behaving differently in our homes and in public. When people are posting comments in forums, newsgroups, on Youtube etc., they are mostly sitting in their homes, and some people think that they don’t have to show respect for others there.

Secondly, there is almost no nonverbal communication in forums, newsgroups etc. When I am picking a an ambiguous expression, nobody can see my face or hear my voice to help him understand what I mean. The possibility to be misunderstood is much higher than in real life. For the same reason, it’s usually not a good idea to write a letter when you’re having a quarrel with a loved person. We can use smileys, but they are by far not an adequate substitute because we don’t use them automatically like we’re using our voice’s modulation.

And there are of course a lot of cowards who think they can whoop it up when they’re online because there is seemingly less social control. People can go bananas in real life too, especially when they were having a bad day, but they get a reaction within split seconds and can’t avoid consequences by just registering under a different nickname. And there are the [schnooks] who think it’s fun to destroy other people’s works rather than creating something by themselves.

  20. will2dmax says:

You’re very entertaining i look forward to your appearances on the factor.

  21. dcp420 says:

I hadn’t heard of this site before the O’Reilly Factor which I just happened to turn on after coming home from the bar. I think you are providing a positive public service. if you benefit from it, good for you. The important thing is that people can learn something. In addition, I’m also 28 and I don’t think you look any older than myself. Actually, when watching the videos, its your accent that draws my attention. Good luck with your pursuits!

  22. polystictus says:

Marina…You have to realize that there are very nutty people out there and they are all anonymous on the internet. So the craziest ones can say just anything they want without risk. No celebrity regardless of how nice is immune from some wacko critisizm. You are so cute and do an interesting “service”. Those who would say unfair stupid stuff are likely jealous (maybe other women), or hate women in general, maybe psychopathic, or simply those who get pleasure in upsetting others and find fault in anything that others find enjoyable. Absolutely no publically known person can claim to please a 100% of the people and you are getting upset about that tiny percent who really don’t have a legitamit complaint…they are simply mentally ill…really! You need to just ignore this stuff as you are doing nothing wrong in anyway. Don’t you see that instead of just clicking off if they don’t like your site, they show there pathetic selves by making uncalled for, sick comments. Hey, Charles Manson gets fan letters, figure that! Relax, you are smart, beautiful and fun…please pardon my spelling errors…Terry

  23. labbatt78 says:

It’s 2 bad I missed it so far. I was still at work. I’m sure they have a repeat sometime later on or the next day.

  24. Marina,

The next time you are feeling overwhelmed by the YT haters just come back and read some of the comments here. You have the real “old-timers”, and folks like me who you charmed a little later on, and now look at the new students and friends who discovered HFW tonight. Take heart, Sweetie, and stay strong. You’re doing right, we appreciate you, and we care for you.
Hokey as it may sound, you make my life brighter and funner every day.

    Always.

  25. vivalafiga says:

    Hi Marina,

    You were great to night!

  26. wordfan says:

    Hi Marina,
You were great tonight. I always enjoy watching your segments on The Factor because I learn something new in an entertaining and charming way.
I always wonder how you do your research, especially with some of those fun, old-fashioned words that Bill O’Reilly uses. (like codswallop and popinjay). Your command of the language is quite impressive and its obvious that you have a real talent for communicating.
Well, you did another great job and we’ll all look forward to your next O’Reilly segment.
By the way, your website is quite innovative. Its refreshing to see something unique and new like this. Nice work!

  27. I loved the segment of the show you were on Marina and it is part of it that people think they can be ruder on the Net than in person because they think have the protection of anonymity.

But it does go deeper than that since even if they thought they could get away with it then why would they want to be so nasty in the first place?

It is because they still drag along their emotional baggage no matter where they go even on the Net, they might control themselves better in person where they think there are more consequences of poor behavior but they still have the motivations of the burdens of their hangups there also.

I did a video about it when I was getting rude and nasty attacks on YouTube myself about the advantage creating an Emotional Baggage Check so that people could drop the weight of such a heavy burden instead of having to carry it around everywhere.

It seemed to me that with such a creative opportunity to express the best of ourselves that YouTube gave us (Which you certainly have showed one of the best ways to take advantage of it and your talent for it is undeniable) that the majority of people only react with the worst parts of themselves from unconscious conditioning by bickering.

I do agree that it is usually a desperate plea for attention and ignoring those is usually the best solution but is does contribute a lot to the noise ratio and makes it a lot harder for the positive to get through.

  28. janeygirl says:

    Marina,
You are a very sweet and delightful young lady, I watch you every time your are on with Bill O’ Reilly. You are always very interesting, polite, entertaining and come across very smart.

If you weren’t a nice young lady and Bill didn’t respect you he would not have you on his show, especially so often.

Ignore those fools that spend their lives trying to bring those of us that have a brain and know how use it down. They thrive on being nasty and disgusting.

They are quite probably uneducated, ignorant fools that have nothing better to do, they are just a bunch of lonely fools.

If after the first couple of words it looks as if a message has been sent by one of these morons don’t read the rest of it…just ignore it, ignore them all.

All you have to do is remind yourself, you are somebody. You are known by millions, You have this terrific website, you are smart, you have a great talent and most of all, you are seen by millions on a show that has been number one for 100 consecutive Months….WOW! Lucky you!!

These morons are nameless, faceless, nobodies hiding behind a computer (Cowards, that’s that they are)……..lol

I just had to join your site after seeing you on Bill O’ Reilly tonight and hearing about these baboons that are being rude to you and attacking you…..

So Marina, hold your head high, enjoy what you love to do and keep doing it….

God Bless and take care of yourself Marina.
    Jane

  29. CD says:

Marina, you were fantastic as usual. I know O’Reilly’s ratings rise every time you are on his show. As for the “net nasty’s” (as I call them), just remember, little minds have little good to say. I was in law enforcement in LA back in the ’70s and trust me, sticks and stones hurt more. (I am almost 60 years old, trust me, you don’t look even close to 30.) Whenever you get a “net nasty’s note” or comment, remember your computer delete key will file their missives in the appropriate file. You are adorable, they “net nasty’s are simply jealous.

  30. Hi Marina, I caught you on Bill’s show tonight and it prompted me to sign up. I’m always trying to expand my vocabulary and figured this would be a great place to supplement that goal.

Just ignore the haters and a-holes out there, they’re not worth your time. You’re too intelligent and successful to get worked up over a bunch of nincompoops with a fetish for anonymously posting hateful comments online.

    Keep up the great work!

    AAA

  31. bosspooba says:

    ugh…typo not “fro… ummm for.

  32. bosspooba says:

I saw you on O’Reilly and had to join your site. Besides you obvious outer beauty, I found your inner self very refreshing. Good for you fro calling out the haters! I am a writer and love words, so I think I may become a regular on your site. Already book marked you!

  33. haydenloft says:

I’m fairly new to running a business on the internet. One thing I’m learning is that the more successful you are, the more you will be attacked. People with low self esteem hate success. They hate success combined with beauty even more. Ignore them completely. They are not fans, and more importantly, they will never add anything to your business. They are irrelevant to your success. I’m sure O’Reilly’s ratings went up tonight, simply because you were on the show. You absolutely rock!

  34. bora001 says:

You are delightful! After watching you tonight, I signed up for you web page and promise to visit often. Keep up the good work Marina. Wish I could meet you in person some day. : )

  35. Hi Marina,
I just watched you on the Factor.
I am 60 yrs, and I am glad you have a site on the net.
I think you are a very hot woman, and I have a beef with the pisdavoka’s who have been attacking you.

You have zillions of fans world wide who want to kick their ass.

I want to thank you for being my teacher.

  36. racheldoonan says:

Marina , you were fabulous on there tonight . I apoligize up front for any spelling errors Lol . But i totally feel where your “beef” is coming from because i have encountered alot of rudeness online through your channel on youtube when i stand up for you when i see negative comments left on you tube . i get so angry when i see something negative on youtube about you because you are a person too! Even if your cha chas are out there all the time(Which i think is sexy anyways Lol ) it doesnt mean you are a stereotypical American woman . You have style and glamour that alot of other girls cant attain and whoever puts you down its just jealous! You keep your head high there Marina , Ill be watching you as long as you are here! Love you girl!

  37. MCLIJazz says:

That was another great segment tonight, Marina. I feel for you on this matter. I’ve also been an internet target for negative comments. Those of you regulars probably remember fthis crazy guy that attacked me here after being goaded by a hateful website that he hangs out at following Marina’s Valentine’s Day-themed appearance. I try to ignore attacks on me and to not take them personally, but it’s hard. It’s comforting to know, though, that if that crazy guy leaves any comments to my blog, they go right to spam where I immediately delete them.
By the way, I also had my share of people attacking me when I was addicted to Long Island-based AOL chat rooms, which I swore off two years ago.

  38. cowboyz65 says:

Great job Marina!! I think Bill has a crush on you!:) (and so do I!:P) As for the negative comments. There are idiots everywhere, don’t let them get You down. Take Bill’s advice…DELETE THEM! They are not worth the time it takes to read them.

  39. Erica says:

Watched you on O’Reilly tonight and will watch you on his show two more times tonight since my Uncle is a O’Reilly fan and it’s his TV :( Anyway you were great so I’m looking forward to the O’Reilly reruns tonight.

  40. Marina,

I really enjoyed your Factor appearance. I correctly guessed your “beef” last week, so what’s my prize? (I know – you aren’t going to kick me off your site. Yet.)
Marina, I fool around with you and everybody else here, and I don’t like bringing this up. But as your popularity grows, can I ask you to please give some thought to your security and safety? Please just give it some thought.
    O.K. Buzzkill over. When’s detention?

  41. Captain Jack says:

27 digital channels and I don’t get Fox News. Maybe that’s a good thing. :-)

    • MCLIJazz says:

It’s a good thing not to have FNC between 9:00 and 10:00 on weeknights. Sean Hannity is a good guy and means well, but too doctrinaire for me. I’ll watch Glenn Beck here and there, but “The O’Reilly Factor” is the only show I follow regularly. That and “Red Eye with Greg Gutfeld,” “FOX News Watch” (weekly show about media coverage), “Huckabee” weekly variety show, and “FOX & Friends” segments that are posted on FOXNews.com because watching all three hours on DVR is too [tedious] for me.

  42. s.charged says:

Watched it, Loved it, You ROCK!!!! Keep up the good work !!!!! b/c you are making a difference and that difference is for the better………

  43. Hs4Mm says:

Going out to look for a “public TV” to watch at 8:30 PST.

  44. I thought you did really great. My theory of the negativity is that it is written by a bunch of jelous morons. Don’t let it get you down.

  45. r.j. johnson says:

      Hello rickrtx,
Click on the Help/FAQ link at the top right of the page, then, scroll down to the picture of Marina where the question is:
“How do I get one of those cute pictures next to my comments?”
      Marina explains it there.

      P.S.
I could have also mentioned to have you click on your icon in your post, which would have taken you to the Gravatar site. However, that link is no longer there as Marina is doing some tweaks to the site. The gravatars are also much smaller than before.

  50. mattym says:

Marina, great job on “The Factor.” I agree that it is easier on the net to be mean and hateful.
Hope he has you on again. How many times have you been on? I’m counting 6!

  51. rickrtx says:

    Marina on Internet rudeness
HotForWords.com maven Marina tells the Factor what irks her about the Internet.

This will air tonight around 8:30 Eastern and Pacific. It was recorded early last week. It was originally scheduled to air last Friday, but was postponed due to breaking news.

  54. CheVolay says:

Oh Goody good something to watch

  55. Marina,

The teaser I saw announcing this had Laura Ingraham, Megyn Kelly, and you lined up in boxes across the screen. The voice-over said essentially “Tonight: Laura, Megyn, and Marina on The Factor!”

You’re a mainstreaming little babe, aren’t you! I loved it!
    Way to go, Dear Teach!

    Always.

  56. PageDoll says:

    Finally! Frickin’ Bill!
Now, will this be your fifth or sixth appearance?
Have you ever met Megyn Kelly while taping the show? Was she nice?
