This is an odd one, upon which I have been efforting. I’m an academic and was introduced to your website by a former female student via email. Being what I would refer to as a “professional victim”, she was a bit agitated and wanted me to see just how deameaning a position a woman place herself into in creating a website like yours. After watching several of your youtube offerings, I responded to her email saying in brief… Get with the program. [sic] “If you can’t handle a strong intelligent woman who is gaining ground creatively in academe, please think again.” The image and presentation you have created has my respect. I learn from your offerings, and enjoy them. I personally enjoy your newer offerings where you interject a little silliness. I think it helps to keep a viewer a little more focused, and it is a great break for me when I am up-to-my-eyeballs in editing.

A douchebag is a genuinely useful piece of hygenic equipment; it is thus inappropriate and [misogynistic]to degrate it by using “douchebag” and its derivative “-ette” as terms of abuse.
A much more appropriate synonym is “choad,” in one sense a partially-erect penis, and in another analogous sense, someone who is “full of himself” but basically impotent; i.e.
“Choadette” has a certain appeal as a feminine counterpart.

I like Gaundi’s quote: “An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind”. If someone is acting overconfident, there really is no point in making fun of someone if they are overconfident, because in the end, chances are they won’t succeed, and if you make fun of someone, than you arejust as bad as they are.
What strain of losers calls someone a douchebag, douchebaggette, and actually gets jolly on that sort of immature behaviour and who are the adults who encourage such talk? Hey, the world is already confused enough as it is so f@&! those losers with a can of dorky because it sounds like some slur kids under 10 years of age say when they insult one another in the schoolyard.

Years ago, George Carlin described the Italians he grew up with. They referred to other guys as “scumbags,” but girls were “douchebags.” I guess ‘douchebag’ came to be a term reserved for the male as an extra slam against him, necessitating now the diminutizing suffix “-ette” for a female.
Guess I took all the fun out of it.

That’s definitely news to me. I always thought of douchebag as a gender neutral, if not over-used, term. It’s nice to know our society can find ways to be sexist even when it comes to cut-downs. Of course, now that I know the definition of douchebag, I can understand why it is used so frequently. There is almost no one that it doesn’t apply to.

My first thought when I read the title was that that a douchebagette was some weird French thing to eat.
That would be douche-baguette (French for forgetting to put down your breakfast bread before stepping into the shower).

Douche is such a strange word. Sounds almost like the norwegian word for shower – “dusj”. Dusjbag, hehe. When I read “douchebagette” I automatically thought of a baguette with an attitude =D
I think that most people would agree that it is a term used derogatorily against women they don’t like… mostly an angry put-down… often it reflects more of the attitude of the person saying it rather than having any substance in the person it is directed at. It is kind of mean spirited attack by those who can’t come up with better ways of conveying their emotions.
But aren’t most putdowns this way.
