Playing the next upgrade race is a no win. It's like a freeway. Just get on the damn freeway and drive. Technology changes everyday. Just buy what you wish to pay and go with that. As for the OS just get what comes with the computer and upgrade later. It's only $129 to upgrade the OS. That's where the meat of the Apple is at. Apple does give discounts or free upgrades if they buy just before an upgrade. For example I bought an iMac G3 years ago and they came out with a brand new iMac G3 with more ram and other features so they upgraded me to the new one. I had to wait an extra month to get it but no worries. Apple tends to be rather fair when it comes to things like that. So I suggest you just go out and get one now. Don't put it off.
