  1. What happened to your pretty blue eyes in “Duck / Duct Tape” ?
You looked like you were up all night cramming for the test.
Love the school girl pony tail look. Will you be doing a line of lingerie?

Interesting shots of your video studio, Marina. Very tidy generally, and the modern equipment (probably state of the art and relatively low budget thanks to modern technology), was interesting. White carpet. Physiologically cheering with it’s brightness. “THX 1138″ it’s not, because it has texture and therefore has warmth. The drug importer in “Get Shorty” had a white carpet. Had to monitor what people were tracking across the floor. There are rules with white carpet. One of my childhood dreams was a vista view of the universe, at once a beautiful flowing smooth white sheet that went out endlessly in all directions, and suddenly it was like crumpled paper with very sharp crumples, still white, and then back suddenly back to very smooth and flowing. All and all a pleasant, non-verbal, dream about white. But in real life, I can’t have white carpet because I’m a caveman.

    Ha… Korean TV…cute!
I noticed you type like me, only you have very dainty feminine fingers and my hands look like Fred Flintstone’s. Other than that exactly the same!
Marina, could you do a thing on [pathos] please? Could include [sympathy], [apathy] and [empathy] and any other related words I guess. Tanks in advance.

    Dear Marina,
Congratulations on exceeding 195 Million views. In a few days, you will exceed 200 Million. I hope you will show a super video to celebrate this.
Just ask us if you want jokes or other ways to celebrate 200 Million!

  7. Good work, Marina. It seemed they presented you in a well-rounded and respectful manner, although I have no idea what was said in Korean. You GO girl!

    Marina tweeted:-

Old but funny: Snopes.com Debunked as a Hoax http://bit.ly/syXBy

Now I don’t know what to disbelieve!

  9. So cool, Dear Teach! More kudos.

    Love you.

    Hey, how about [KUDOS]?

The particular Korean reporter who edited the video piece, needs to learn a thing or two from Hotforwords. :-)

  11. wyo550 says: 10

This was West Korean television- not East Korean TV, right? Those crazy commies in the east are CRAAAAAZY!!!!!
What’s that leader guy’s name… Kim is Ill?
He invented the WALL OF SOUND for Seoultown Records!
They ought to BOMB that capital. What is it, Vladivostok?

Now I want Korean BBQ

    Dear Marina,
Congratulations on that feature on Korean TV. It had many scenes of your home studio, lights, background, camera and scenes of editing videos on a Mac. You look good!
I was stationed in Korea and actually learned the language reasonably well. Now, I can hardly understand the announcers. You have to practice to keep language skills. I didn’t use that language after the Army brought me home!
    Komap sumnida (Thanks).

For those of you who are new, or don’t remember the original site that started the AP HotForWords video watch, it is located over here. Marina has added additional countries to the list and I added one this past month.
    http://www.hotforwords.com/2009/02/20/associated-press/

Each media outlet uses slightly a different set of scenes. Marina mentioned that the original interview was about 6 minutes long, where the media outlets show about 2-3 minutes of the interview. I haven’t seen the longer version yet.

reutersYouTube BrandWatch is The Big Money’s exploration into how the world’s best-known businesses, so adept at managing their images offline, are being perceived online, where control is harder to come by. Every week, The Big Money features a corporate-themed video that’s had significant viewership on YouTube: some approved, some unapproved, some mashed-up combinations of the two. And we’ll ask our readers to vote on how the video affects the brands. We think the responses will surprise you, and provide a window onto what is fast becoming the most important playground for corporate games. (Note: This feature has no official relationship to YouTube or its owner, Google.)

Excellent to see you on Korean TV!

That AP feature can be picked up anywhere, and ‘has legs’ as they say in that Biz.

Very Good for You! Congrats.

Freaking twitter is down again. That’s twice today as of this writing. It’s getting worse every week. Tweets are getting lost or fail to get sent. Sometimes they show up weeks later. I still hate twitter. gggrrrr…. The people on twitter are fantastic though. I can live without twitter but I can’t live without the ability to communicate with all my friends. A new service needs to be invented which it has.

Well twitter days are numbered. Mark my words. Yes! twitter’s days are numbered. I’ve seen a new product that would wipe out twitter from the face of the earth. It’s backed by a major company has millions to invest in the new tool that will change how we communicate on the web. Might even replace emails, IM, twitter, and even Facebook.

Facebook.com has 87.4 million users, MySpace.com has 64.3 million, Google.com 141.2 for comparison, and twitter.com has 23 million users currently. Even with Oprah and Ashton pushing to get the word out about twitter, it’s not gaining steam like the other social networks are.

Anyone else see the writing on the wall as I do?

    •
      Hello Captain Jack,
I’m not focused on that type of detail as you have explained, as I am busy with very important number crunching for someone special  , but, you piqued my curiosity. Can you divulge what that other product is and why do you think Twitter days are numbered?

    • darlingj says: 4.2

      Hello CJ,

I’m always about a year or so behind the times on the ‘next big thing’…I guess it works for me as I save a lot of time and effort in getting ‘invested’ in something that may go away…

I tend to agree with you about Twitter – I only signed up about two weeks ago and haven’t figured out how I will actually use it much in my daily life except to keep informed on what others I am interested in might be doing…

Seems great for Oprah and Ashton and Marina who have or want to create a ‘following’ – but I can text or EM my circle of contacts directly, although Twitter is a bit easier when it’s running.

What is this new new product you have seen?

      • What you experience with twitter is very common with many users . Even I had issues with it until I found a use for it that worked for me. I could give a rats ass about who is doing this and that (unless it’s a live video of you doing something interesting). It’s freaking lame and too simple minded. The world is much smarter than that. This is obvious for the fact the facebook has not been in the media as much and is about 4 times more people using the service than twitter.
Twitter (native api) does not offer photos, videos, and is limited to a 140 character message. (Yes, there are other services the complement this short coming but it would be better if it was all intergraded). It’s just to limiting. It was best used for cellphone back in the day. Now with Smart Phones with internet access, who need SMS?

The other issue I have with twitter is you really don’t get any true use out of it until you get about 2,000 to 4,000 followers. It’s only now that I’m finding twitter useful and entertaining. One has to work their ass off to get those followers unless your a celebrity. So twitter is really a benefit to celebrities who want to make contact with their fans. If they are lucky they will tweet back to your comments. I think that sort of thing is kind of nice to be able to make a bit more connection with untouchable celebs, but after that what do you have?

Don’t get me wrong. I love the people I can communicate with. It’s expanded my world a bit more. I just don’t think twitter is the tool to make that happen. Many other people agree that many of these type of services fall short.

The new product is called Google Wave. It’s not available yet but you can sign up for them to send you an email when it comes out.

Go check the video out. It’s about 2 hour long demo but it will give you an idea about what they are working on.

The writing’s on the wall. Magic Markers for sale! Get em while they’re hot

    •
      Hey Captain Jack,
Are you referring to Google Wave?
      I’m watching a 1 hr 20 min video now.

      • LOL!!!!
Yeap! You got it right! What do you think about that?

        •
Wow! I got something right this year?

I’m 30 minutes into the video and yes, I do like it esp. using Open Source, and the way the different parts work. Looks like a lot more functionality. There is a lot of stuff for me to get my arms around. So, I’ll be busy looking into that.

          • You were just lucky. Many people have to get it wrong many times before they get it right. Look at Edison.

Yeah, love the way they are going about this product. Really smart people there. I wish some of that smarts would bleed over to YouTube.

        •
Regarding the smarts bleeding over to YT.

That begs the question since YT and Google are now linked up to a point. Also, YT was not a Google creation, so buying it made more sense than to develop their own and compete head on. By buying YT, they really bought the market place and the idea rather than the technology.

So, my guess is that eventually, the Google technology will replace the YT technology as we know it. Kind of like the Netscape thing, but AOL mucked that up.

          • Google has their own video. I think I have a video or two up on it somewhere. It’s just they failed at marketing it. Yes it was much bigger than them so it’s alway a better idea to buy out the competition if you have the money.
With good marketing and a forward looking vision you can sell garbage to anyone. But in time if your garbage fails to improve and expand it will be short lived.

It’s not the technology that is the issue with YT. It’s how the see their market and where it’s going. YT success was to give everyone a chance to SHARE. It gave the people a voice. That’s what make YT great. When they tried to introduce network TV into the picture they cut their own throats. When they should have been helping the people making more entertaining videos. Also YT no longer has their heart into the business. I could so go over there and spend a day with them. I would rock their world. In a year they would be buying me a Jet (but I would rather have a better yacht)

Have you heard? AOL days are numbered also. They have been sucking Time-Warner dry. Now they are cut off. I don’t think their current model will last long. It’s sad for they do have some great services.

        •
Hey Captain Jack, did you know that Google video no longer accepts uploads. Eventually, they will phase that part of the site out. Also, Google’s video upload was more complex than YouTube’s, which was another advantage and draw to YT. Google is promoting YT.

      “Surprise! Surprise! Surprise!”
[best Gomer Pyle - heh heh]
I did mention that Twitter was destined
to fall flat – but, only from from the get-go!
Nobody likes a prophet where profit is at
stake, especially in your own home town…
Remember coComment? …or did that one
      already fade from memory…
Hey! How about I sell you a nice hula hoop?
I haven’t seen the “new” Google wave, yet…
Does anyone besides me see the pattern?
Maybe, Yahoo will launch the next-new-wave :!: :?:
      Surfs up! Kowabunga, dude.

      • coComment? Oh yea I remember them. Good example of a great idea combined with poor business decisions. They were focused on making the product pretty and the heck with ease of use. I’m still confused on how it works after all these years.

I have been using Google for my spell checker. It works much better than other products I have tried. Now Google has a new spell checker that totally rocks. It looks at the sentence to chooses the correct word that fits. Then it can even do a live correcting as you type. I type to fast and words like ‘the’ become ‘teh’. A freaking computer can be programmed to figure that out and fix it on the fly. My old computer used to have that function from some 3rd party program.

Oh and another cool thing about google wave is that it will do language translation live. Yes as you type it will try to translate the best it can. It’s not perfect but at least its a great start.
