This is what I’ve said for years. “Isms” in control create nothing but worthless, repressive autocracies. They stifle creativity, they trample basic human rights, they breed corruption, and require heavy enforcement resources. The creators and enforces of “Ism” based systems of governance (whether Religious, Philosophical, Political, or Totalitarian)are costing the planet Trillions annually and are preventing that, or more, from being created by being the obstacles to the movement of people/talent, goods, and commerce.
The Internet offers the last real hope for a true global democracy and commerce engine offering universal parity. Will it happen…one can hope, but that hope is slowly fading as time goes by.
Even OUR government is promoting the concept of having “emergency powers” to shut the Internet down if the President feels there is a “challenge to our security”. What “challenge” would be sufficient cause has not been truly defined.
I treasure the ability to mix concepts, ideas, and talents with astute people from all walks of life. I would truly miss it. It’s worth fighting to keep. Iran is NOT as distant a phenomena as we’d like to think.
This whole world could use a fresh breath of FREEDOM!

Lewis Carroll simply had Alice “come to” in his ‘Wonderland” Story. Dorothy clicked her heels and woke up in her Kansas bed in the Wizard of OZ. (There IS a place like home…it’s, like, home…) Alice should have led the revolt against the nasty old Queen and reigned in Wonderland-striking a simultaneous blow for Women’s Rights. Dorothy should have taken over the Wicked Witch’s castle. She could have studied all the Flying Monkees and been the Diana Fosse of OZ.

In the eighties, I worked for a mortgage company in Arizona. We did alot of 2nd mortgages at the time. Not every property we secured a mortgage on was wonderful, but one stands out as the most terrible.
My friend and I went to see the property being secured and to interview the client. The mortgage had been applied for by the son, so we wanted to see the mother and ascertain the circumstances involved. (We ultimately turned the loan down and ’sicced’ Social Svcs. on the son and girlfriend who was attempting to steal the house from his mother-what a creep!)
But what waited for us IN the house, I’ll NEVER forget.
The Mother was actually a sweet old lady, who was fortunately without a sense of smell. We asked people for a week for anything that would account for it, but could find out nothing. (The police searched in the walls at the behest of Soc. Svcs., but found nothing, though they reported the odor, as well. The mother was moved to a decent nursing home and lived comfortably for 10-12 more years. The son and girlfriend did time for attempted mortgage fraud.) That odor was SO terrible you could almost SEE it. Whether it was something dead, or what, we don’t know. But my friend and I ran to his car, doused ourselves with cologne, but couldn’t get rid of the sense of it or the experience of it almost 24 hours and never lost the memory of it, EVER.
If we talked about it, we could actually relive it, as I do now, talking about it.

Destroying all rational thought will never create and control “The God Particle”. It may be the opening door to the ‘Brave New World’ we’ve joked about, but hoped for for decades. Let’s ‘Grok’ that one for a second or two.

Well..Science seems to WANT to be THE truth-yet it must be updated, recycled, reinvestigated, and retooled one way or the other to remain true and/or relevant.
I seem to remember a commercial from the turn of the mellenium which included the rant, “Where are the flying cars-there was supposed to be flying cars!…”(I.E. What’s the collective noble truth, today?)
I recently posed these questions on a science-related blog, (and E-Mailed it, a while back, to a famous Quantum Physicist): “Since we’ve known since Einstein that annihilating mas produces a yield equal to the atomic weight of the mass times the speed of light squared(I.E a s**tload of energy-Hi-Ho!), then what amount of energy would be required to isolate the atoms, shape any mass, evolve, and maintain it? And in what way would that energy evolve, itself, during the process of forming a mass, particularly large, complex, and extreme duration mass events?”
I haven’t gotten feedback, or even interesting qualifiers, back from ANY source, as yet…so it must be a poser.
