Interview for F5 Magazine

Here is an interview I did for the Russian F5 Magazine! (I know.. another Russian interview :-) )

If you’d like to run the interview through Google Translator, here are links to the PDF’s.  F5 Magazine Pg 1 and F5 Magazine Pg 2

Just cut and paste the pdf text into Google Translator.

Does anyone know the significance of the title of the magazine? (F5)

Here’s an interview in English: http://bit.ly/5q6Zj

  2.
Like Jody said below, that was a very nice interview.

I liked the part about Marina saying that due to her being stronger, she was able to endure a lot of anonymous attacks on the Internet, where others making videos gave up too soon.

I liked the part where Marina talks about presenting herself as being attractive, being well dressed, radiate energy, strength, and be positive and always smile and not be like some other boring teachers.

I liked the part where Marina talks about not teaching American English as many people assume, but that she discovers the meaning of words that are not so obvious and explains that it’s not her fault that the educational system here does not focus on word origins as they do in other educational systems and for those people that are interested in word origins, why not give to people what they are interested in.

I liked the part about the interviewer suggesting that Marina go in front of shows like Oprah, Larry King and other shows and Marina said that she is working on that and it will come in good time and hopes that Larry King will look at this web site soon.

I liked the part where Marina talked about video blogging as the quickest way to get in front of an audience without having to wait for producers and other things to get in the way.

Marina is certainly self made and her success came through her arduous and long hours of dedicated work.

OK leonard, it’s been a day or two.

Have you been out milking the cows there in Wisconsin or something? ;-)

Here is a brief version of the brilliance I promised the other day.

I say this is the best interview I’ve read about M – and I’ve read them all.

Do the Google translation – and if you already haven’t take my advice,

My method has been for years to have a tall Stoli, and focus on the communication vs the syntax in the translation.

This is NOT your usual USA fluff piece.

Believe Me – the Russian mindset will cut through the BS faster than:

…Bob can come up with a brilliant Pun.

…GP can create an arcane Star Trek reference.

…PK can decipher the latest nuance in YT algorithims.

I know I’m leaving many out, but there is a point to my madness.

Chemikal saw exactly what I saw somewhere below.

Marina answered these questions straight on, no other answers would have been allowed, and they showed us again her character and purpose.

Why have I wasted all this time watching all those vids, when I could have just waited for this piece to understand it all?

Oh Yeah, she was in them… ;-)

  4. Hello Dear Teacher, we loved your interview with F5 what was understandble and I for one appreciate that you arent ‘Silent in the frame’ thats what we love about you, you are very beautiful and very intelligent. Thank you for doing what you do we love your sense of humour also. On a completely different note – When is geek girl going to do another hot for words? ciao ciao dear Marina

  5.
OK, I’ve got it figured out.
The magazine / newspaper F5 belongs to the same family as Snob.ru owned by the billionaire Russian tycoon Mikhail Prokhorov.

F5 is a new venture that pays for traffic to the various content, probably similar to YouTube and each page has a mood-o-meter that has 5 positions.

Mood-o-meter is available on all pages of the site and has five positions:
    1. The brain is switched on
    2. Ready to download
    3. Simply entertain
    4. Tuplyu (adult / mature ? some words are hard to translate)
    5. The brain is turned off (extreme right)

I could articulate this better if I knew how to read Russian. So for now, it should suffice until I master the Russian language… in a few hours. Ohhhh no, I didn’t mean I’ll master Russian in a few hours, I’ll be back with more info in a few hours, more or less.

    Hey Evan, I’m making progress.
Ф is f as in fast

F5 Could that be a tornado reference?

    Hi All!

I had a really brilliant post ready twice tonite to put here…

But as almost all of the other really brilliant things I’ve ever done, the posts were lost to Humanity forever due to a computer glitch, or through someone else’s fault (never mine mind you)… :???:

Fortunately, the glitch got me to look and see that leonard posted a translation under page 2 for that page, and he promises one for page 3, that I am sure will be WAY better than the Google Translator.

The bunny business on the first page seems strange to me. What’s that about? :???:

Expect something really profound tomorrow! ;-)

But I wouldn’t advise holding your breath for that long!

    Yeah…time for bed…

“I am not a model, I am not silent
in the frame. This is my knowledge and my
ability to convey this knowledge to the listener.”

Wow Marina. Did you spend your nights making up such smart answers, or was all of this live Q&A?
    I love it. :-)

  9. Che Volay says: 24

F5 is to coolness as L7 is to squareness

  10. Che Volay says: 23

Marina are you going to tell us the real answer to F5?

  11. hs4mm says: 22

One has to agree that the magazine is honest and correct: It is explicit about its goal F5 (refresh via Windows key usage) and its method (via its cover): f’ing is indeed a great way to get refreshed and rejuvenated!

  12. Ok, let’s try version 1.5
as in revision. So, F5 is
    the 5th revision or version
    of the magazine?

The graphics processor company S3 was so named because it was the third Start-up started by its founders. After the company was sold, one of the founders bought a plane — and died in a crash.

    Dear Marina,
You’re so very beautiful and it’s good that you receive so much attention. Magazines like “Snob” and “F5″ be intended for wealthy and successful readers, so perhaps this publicity will lead to more views on YouTube and more income for you. I hope it brings more good things to you.

  14. Che Volay says: 19

    Oh! Another interview *yawn* (jk)

Marina you photograph so well and you have many different looks, like a chameleon in front of the camera you are.

The above photo makes you look….well… just plain nasty.

    {There are times when Che is in the mood for nasty, (cochina) *big smirk* }

  15. dami says: 18

F5 stands for Fellate 5 which refers to using the five senses: touch, taste, sight, aroma and sound..

  16. Actually, F5 is magazine’s “Favorite Five” (Topics) now you have to find out what five topics.

    article: http://strange.corante.com/tag/human-rights

  17. Nah, F5 stands for “function five” on your standard keyboard, I think it’s what kicks people offline.

  18. Capman911 says: 15

Their web site is http://WWW.F5.ru. Go there if you can read the words.

  19. f5 in musical terminology represents five separate frequencies in vocalization, in the vocalization of consonants and vowels, etc.

  20. F5 – Furry 5uckers, hence the fornicating hares on the magazine cover :!:

  21. hs4mm says: 11

OMG! I looked at the cover — those rabbits are in pairs, f*ing! What kind of a magazine is this?

  22. Ok, I’ll take a stab at the significance of F5.
    - Chess move f5?
    - Camera f stop which is usually f5.6
    - Nikon F5 camera
    - Tornado strength of F5

so, how far off am I?

  23. hs4mm says: 9

You explained snob; what’s the explanation for F5? Does it have to with F5 being the key to refresh the browser’s page on Windows — so the magazine means something along the the lines of “Refresh {yourself}!” or “{Something} Refreshing {for you}!” or “Rejuvenate”?

  24. dami says: 8

F5 sounds like an f-stop or shutter speed..

  25. hs4mm says: 7

Congratulations! Good statement: “I am not not silent in the frame.”

  26. You rock so hard, Dear Teach!

  27. leonard says: 4

 a wide smile makes me smile

    teacher passes out treats,,,[thanks] Marina

  28. pedanticKarl says: 3

Hey Marina, I love seeing interviews in your native tongue and country. That’s exciting to see.
Don’t know F5 significance, yet. Must investigate.

  29. leonard says: 1

    WORK the world Marina…
