Where’s Waldo? Can you find me?
Article from the Daily Mail today…. see if you can find me
Oh, and for extra credit, find me here as well
Oh and extra extra credit.. here is another one.
Why text messages are limited to 160 characters
Did you know that the average postcard sent home contains only 150 characters?
In 1985 a researcher in Germany, Friedhelm Hillebrand, practiced typing out blurbs, or short questions and answers, on his typewriter and he was able to always get the point across in 160 characters or less. So he set out to make that the standard length for the text-messages that we all use today.
The technology at the time only allowed them to fit 128 characters in, but knowing what he knew, he did everything he could to
squeeze in an extra 32 characters, to bring it to the 160 characters that we are all familiar with today. Twitter, is limited to 140 characters, due to space being needed for the person’s username… and I think we all do a pretty good job of getting the point across in even that limited space!
Here is this article over at the Los Angeles Times.
Oh.. and can you figure out who wrote the postcard that I am using for an example?
My homework – writing scripts
Hey guys, I just wanted to let you know that I am doing my homework. I’m writing scripts for new words and expressions: oleaginous, saponaceous, poindexter and the phrase “straight from the horse’s mouth”.
I’m going for fun videos like my Donkey Punch one… so if you have any funny ideas that you’d like me to include, mention them in the comments below!
Now if I could just shake this cold…
6,473 texts a month
Interesting article in the Washington Post today about teens and texting. Teens with cellphones AVERAGE 2,272 TEXT MESSAGES A MONTH!
I think that’s quite a lot. And it does make me wonder what the effects are on the teens who are constantly being distracted by texts from various friends.
I remember when I had a friend who called me 20-30 times a day just to ask me random questions.. it really drove me crazy as I couldn’t focus on anything for very long without getting distracted by a phone call from this person. The minute I got this person under control, everything started to happen for me and I started to achieve major success!
Without having any “me time” to think about things for any length of time, without interruption, must have some kind of effect on people. What do you all think?
Adopt a word!
Each year hundreds of words are dropped from the English language due to lack of use.
Do your part to save some of these words by adopting one!
Thanks Hodgy for pointing this out to me!
845th Most Popular on IMDB
I just looked at IMDB (The Internet Movie Database) and I am the 845th most popular “celebrity” on their list. When you look at who is listed near me, that’s pretty darn cool

IMDB can be found here, you can search for Marina Orlova. The full list is only available at pro.IMDB.com which is a paid service.

Promo for Advertisers
I want to put together a 60 second promo piece to show to potential advertisers. I’d like it to showcase my show: best of clips, press, etc.. and not be sexy.. but be fun and appealing.
If any of you have any idea what clips I should include that would be fantastic! Just suggest the clip and time/location in the clip in the comments below.
G4TV did a good promo piece on me once, but I can’t use it and it’s too provocative I think for advertisers.
The piece will be 60 seconds exactly.
I should also write a blurb… hmmm… this is like homework for me!!!
Read a Trashy Novel

This is my first of a series of posts where I tell you about something I like.. something random… a song, a book I just read, food… anything.
When I was traveling to and from NY for the O’Reilly Factor show, I was stuck in the airport with nothing to read… so I picked up a Jackie Collins novel, and let me tell you something… I LOVED IT! For the next day I was engrossed in the book and didn’t put it down until I was done with it. It was so refreshing to read something light, and people have been telling me about Jackie Collins for some time… so I took a chance and had fun in the process.
After I read the book, I started to think about the fact that so many people I know, DON’T READ! And the ones that do read DON’T ENJOY what they are reading.
Let me clarify. When I ask most of my friends what they are reading, they invariably tell me “Oh, I’m reading 3 books right now” and the books are always self help related. I used to do the same thing.. and I would end up with 3 or 4 half-read books on my bedside table, until I realized that I wasn’t enjoying those books. So one day, I put the those books in the book-shelf, and went and bought the trashiest romance novel I could find and I polished the book off in a day! As opposed to months of reading for the other books!
So my advice to my friends and to you is:
Put those half-read books away and go buy a good fun trashy novel!
Whether it be a romance novel, or a murder mystery, or spy book, just get something fun to read… and start enjoying reading again!
It’s far better to read something fun that may not be so “educational” than it is to not read at all, which is what happens when you start reading these books that you never seem to finish!
For the women out there (and some of the men
), here is a link to that Jackie Collins book I just read…. it’s called Married Lovers. If you want to read something fun and light, check it out
