......................................~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Rhubarb has been used for medical purposes by the Chinese for thousands of years and appears in the The Divine Farmer's Herb-Root Classic which is traditionally attributed to Shen Nung, the Yan Emperor, but is thought to have been compiled in about 2700 BC. <img src="http://www.hotforwords.com/forums/bb-plugins/bb-smilies/default/icon_razz.gif" title=":P" class="bb_smilies" />

The plant has grown wild along the banks of the River Volga for centuries but this variety was known to the west as Russian rhubarb, as opposed to the more efficacious Chinese rhubarb. The expense of transportion across Asia caused rhubarb to be highly expensive in medieval Europe where it was several times the price of other valuable herbs and spices such as cinnamon, opium and saffron.
<img src="http://www.hotforwords.com/forums/bb-plugins/bb-smilies/default/icon_lol.gif" title="" class="bb_smilies" /> thank U and Good-day <img src="http://www.hotforwords.com/forums/bb-plugins/bb-smilies/default/icon_smile.gif" title=":-)" class="bb_smilies" /> <img src="http://www.hotforwords.com/forums/bb-plugins/bb-smilies/default/icon_redface.gif" title="" class="bb_smilies" /> National pride teaches the way things are. Hotforwords is an American thing teaching free enterprise and that is what I like....A homemade rhubarb pie...
Medicine
Rhubarb can be used as a strong laxative, with the roots being used as a laxative for at least 5,000 years.
Rhubarb has an astringent effect on the mucous membranes of the mouth and the nasal cavity. <img src="http://www.hotforwords.com/forums/bb-plugins/bb-smilies/default/icon_lol.gif" title="" class="bb_smilies" />

The roots and stems are rich in anthraquinones, such as emodin and rhein. These substances are cathartic and laxative, which explains the sporadic use of rhubarb as a slimming agent.

Rhubarb roots are used in traditional Chinese medicine; rhubarb also appears in medieval Arabic and European prescriptions.[10][11]
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhubarb @deluxenn---what do you think of "ICONS" as a tool for <img src="http://www.hotforwords.com/forums/bb-plugins/bb-smilies/default/icon_cool.gif" title="8)" class="bb_smilies" /> learning? <img src="http://www.hotforwords.com/forums/bb-plugins/bb-smilies/default/icon_smile.gif" title=":-)" class="bb_smilies" />

It is interesting to compare English and Russian versions of Wikipedia. <img src="http://www.hotforwords.com/forums/bb-plugins/bb-smilies/default/icon_eek.gif" title="8O" class="bb_smilies" />
I have never heard comments about the “gay cause” in "Ny, pogodi" and there’s no section in the Russian version of Wikipedia about it.
I've always liked the Wolf. The Wolf is not gay. <img src="http://www.hotforwords.com/forums/bb-plugins/bb-smilies/default/icon_cry.gif" title="" class="bb_smilies" />
The sport has its origins in an exercise for Norwegian soldiers, as an alternative training for the military. The world's first known ski club, the Trysil Rifle and Ski Club, was formed in Norway in 1861 to promote national defense at the local level.

Called military patrol, the combination of skiing and shooting was contested at the Olympic Winter Games in 1924, and then demonstrated in 1928, 1936, and 1948, but did not regain Olympic recognition then, as the small number of competing countries disagreed on the rules (see also Governing body, below). During the mid-1950s, however, biathlon was introduced into the Russian and Swedish winter sport circuits and was widely enjoyed by the public. This newfound popularity aided the effort of having grunts in the biathlon gain entry into the Winter Olympics.
Will Marina do more slavic style language?...:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::The series was, for many years, hugely popular among the Soviet public, and it is popular in Russia to this day. The critical reaction of the director's colleagues was less favourable. The director's son Aleksey Kotyonochkin recalls how, although nobody said it to his father outright, the animators and directors of Soyuzmultfilm generally considered Nu, pogodi! to be of low class. For his part, Vyacheslav Kotyonichkin was not a follower of auteur films (many of which were being made at the studio at the time), and considered them to be examples of someone needlessly showing off.

Kotyonochkin disliked subtext and tried to create very simple, straightforward scenarios. The main idea of the series was simple and "Western"; don't hurt the little guy or you will yourself get into a foolish situation. Because the series was so popular, however, it was often a subject for critical discussion. Soviet critics saw many different subtexts: for example that the films were supportive of the gay cause (because Wolf occasionally gives Hare flowers as a sign of goodwill, which, at the time, was considered as an acceptable social act among men, as much as today's criticism of Batman's relations with Robin in the late 1960s in America), or that they represented the struggle between the intelligentsia and the working class (with the Wolf representing the working class and the Hare the intelligentsia). Aleksey Kotyonochkin dismisses these interpretations as groundless.
<img src="http://www.hotforwords.com/forums/bb-plugins/bb-smilies/default/icon_lol.gif" title="" class="bb_smilies" /> A USSR stamp from 1988, depicting Nu, pogodi! <img src="http://www.hotforwords.com/forums/bb-plugins/bb-smilies/default/icon_lol.gif" title="" class="bb_smilies" /> Nu,_Pogodi..a cartoon might aid in language skills <img src="http://www.hotforwords.com/forums/bb-plugins/bb-smilies/default/icon_smile.gif" title=":-)" class="bb_smilies" /> The Hare, commonly transliterated into English as Zajats (Russian: Заяц), is portrayed as a supposedly positive hero. He gets much less screen time and is less developed than the Wolf, and most of his actions are simply reactions to the Wolf's schemes. Therefore, the sympathies of some viewers are more with the Wolf, (similar to the premise of Wile E. Coyote and Road Runner where the sympathy of the viewers also lies with the "villain").Interest in Russian TELEVISION <img src="http://www.hotforwords.com/forums/bb-plugins/bb-smilies/default/icon_question.gif" title=":?:" class="bb_smilies" /> ....For the history of this channel before 1991, see Television in the Soviet Union
When the Soviet Union was abolished, the Russian Federation took over most of its structures and institutions. One of the first acts of Boris Yeltsin’s new government was his signing of a presidential decree on 27 December 1991, providing for Russian jurisdiction over the central television system. The ‘All-Union State TV and Radio Company’ (Gosteleradio) was transformed into the 'Russian State TV and Radio Company Ostankino'.

A presidential decree of 30 November 1994 transformed Ostankino into a closed joint-stock company, Russian Public TV (Obshchestvennoe Rossiyskoye Televidenie or ORT). The shares were distributed between state agencies (51%) and private shareholders, including numerous banks (49%). The partial privatization was inspired by the intolerable financial situation of Ostankino, owing to huge transmission costs and a bloated payroll (total staff of about 10,000 in early 1995).

Following the 1998 financial collapse, the channel obtained a government loan of 100$ million from state-controlled bank Vneshekonombank
<img src="http://www.hotforwords.com/forums/bb-plugins/bb-smilies/default/icon_arrow.gif" title="" class="bb_smilies" /> ...mass media and her networks... The concept for which Pavlov is famous is the "conditioned reflex" (or in his own words the conditional reflex: the translation of условный рефлекс into English is debatable) he developed jointly with his assistant Ivan Filippovitch Tolochinov in 1901 <img src="http://www.hotforwords.com/forums/bb-plugins/bb-smilies/default/icon_lol.gif" title="" class="bb_smilies" /> <strike>tv washes <img src="http://www.hotforwords.com/forums/bb-plugins/bb-smilies/default/icon_lol.gif" title="" class="bb_smilies" /> the brain</strike>

Revolutionary troika: Joseph Stalin, Vladimir Lenin and Mikhail Kalinin.
The mountaineers leave the aul, by P. N. Gruzinsky, 1872Several indigenous peoples of the northwest of the Caucasus were forced into exodus at the end of the Caucasian War by victorious Russia. The exodus was launched even before the end of the war in 1864 and it continued into the 1870s, although it was mostly completed by 1867. The peoples involved, mainly the Circassians (Adyghe in their own language), Ubykhs, Abkhaz, and Abaza, were majority or even predominantly Muslim; hence the use in some Russian language historiography of the word mukhadzhirstvo/мухаджирство (or makhadzhirstvo/махаджирство), deriving from the Arabic term muhajir, meaning literally "departee" and by extension "emigrant", to describe this exodus.

This exodus involved an unknown number of people, perhaps numbering hundreds of thousands. The Russians had come to refer to them as mountaineers (gortsy) (meaning, not "mountain climbers", but "mountain dwellers"). The Russian army rounded up people, driving them from their villages to ports on the Black Sea, where they awaited ships provided by the neighboring Ottoman Empire. The explicit Russian goal was to expel the groups in question from their lands

I just saw a special on History International on Joseph Stalin. they said Stalin had transformed Russia from a peasant society hinto a superpower They said that Russians wept at Stalin's funeral too. Stalin had married a pretty teenage girl for a wife but did not give her enough time and affection.
I remember at St. Adalbert's grade school that a few of the nuns I hated seemed to speak in fear of a place called Lubyana. they showed what that was in the doccumentary too. What seemed to move me in 1984 when I read some of Ovid Demaris' book about Jommy the Weasel Fratiano was that he was mistreated by catholic nuns and polish bullies in the schoolyard in cleveland just like I was. He said he nver had to jerk off when in the Mob because they supplied him with pretty showgirls every night. When he grew up and that his dad beat him like my dad beat me as a child. Dad even knocked me to the floor and started kicking me in front of my former wife when we were dating in high school. showed my former wife my dad was a bully too. I kid that the Mafia is a working class organization too-not just communism. They said Stalin began as a common criminal and worked his way up in the communist pary. I had a former friend in grad school named Randy who was a bit more worldly than the other grad students and he looked a bit like Joseph Stalin even had a big moustache. I was astounded the first time I had seen a photo of Joseph Stalin and said to myself he looks like Randy.

I would go to her russian orthodox church services with her if we got to be friends or stronger. I had been raised Catholic.

I dream about Russian Hotforwords!
But Marina can lose a lot of English-speaking viewers.
Maybe we can find any ideas to see Russian speaking Marina: one Russian lesson in a month or something about Russian holidays... What can be interesting about Russia for English-speaking viewers? Maybe it is completely not interesting to her.

The term is generally applied to women and used as an insult or offensive term of disparagement, meaning "dirty or slovenly."[1] It may also be used as an expression of pride in oneself or envy at the sexual successes of others.Although the ultimate origin of slut is unknown, it first appeared in Middle English in 1402 as slutte (AHD), with the meaning "a dirty, untidy, or slovenly woman."[2] Even earlier, Geoffrey Chaucer used the word sluttish (c.1386) to describe a slovenly man; however, later uses appear almost exclusively associated with women.[2] The modern sense of "a sexually promiscuous woman" dates to at least 1450.[2]

Another early meaning was "kitchen maid or drudge" (c. 1450), a meaning retained as late as the 18th century, when hard knots of dough found in bread were referred to as "slut's pennies

Discovered this site and its once soft, lovely edifier on a Me Tube O'Reilly Factor video. Viewing recurring Marina appearances we become exponentially more charmed by her impressive nerdiness and countertype good looks. I was however jarred to see a sad decision had been made to go Hollywood with the harsh altogether unnecessary subtraction of veneers, bee-stung (Origin:1930-35) lips and charicatured Ivanka Trump coiffure. This sexhibitionist's implants seemingly scream for attention in each "Best of 2009" clip, so are they too new, or were these also needily smuggled across the border over 6 years ago?

I am a well known natural born language lover wondering if I've serendipitously stumbled into my sincerely word-smitten soulmate, or if at the core Marina's simply another Tiffany twisted selfishly superficial lens addict carving out her 15 minute slice of reality fame by faking legitimacy through philological gimmickry and a seductively didactic confidence scheme.

The porn industry has a special space reserved for you, Marina, just ass soon ass you're secure enough to make that momentous move from mainstream. TOOhotforwords is also her owned domain, so perhaps the Master Plan is already in place and progressing behind the scenes? We cumbine a warm smell of colitas with the tart taste of forbidden fruit under a deft daring teacher's spell and... Voila! A magically intoxicating egocentrically educational learn potion for Generations X Y Z... and me.

OMG how hot will it be to hear the carelessly whispered etymology of Mistress Orlova's organically MotherCountryn' slutty dirtywerd talking!;-) ...mmm...mmm... baddd

Ресторан (restoran) - restaurant – France origin – restaurer

Этаж (etazh) – floor - France origin – étage

Госпиталь (gospital') from Latin - hospitalis - the hospitable. Maybe to Russia has come from France – hôpital

Хулиган (huligan) the hooligan – from England.
from England to Russia and there is an opinion that the word hooligan has come to France after Russia and the French word hooligan has Russian origin

Пиро? a little mistake in Russian there are words – перо and пир but o.k. I’ll take перо
Перо - a word of an old Russian origin
Перо (pero) - the feather – is more often used in value a feather of a bird.
There is an old Russian expression, a good luck wish: ни пуха ни пера (ni puha ni pera) not fur not feather.
If to you have wished ни пуха ни пера in the answer you should tell – к чёрту (k chertu) go to hell.
This expression has come from hunters of old times and today we use this expression as a good luck wish.
Russian students use this expression before examination.
slang перо(pero)- pocket knife, botany перо(pero) – onions or any plant feather
In old time in Russia used goose feathers for the letter so probably did everywhere <img src="http://www.hotforwords.com/forums/bb-plugins/bb-smilies/default/icon_biggrin.gif" title=":D" class="bb_smilies" />
And so we pass to
Карандаш (karandash) - a pencil - has come from Turkis languages
Turkis — an ethnolinguistic community generated in territory of the Euroasian continent in 1 thousand B.C. now remained as Turkey (Marina has videos about a turkey and a pencil <img src="http://www.hotforwords.com/forums/bb-plugins/bb-smilies/default/icon_wink.gif" title="" class="bb_smilies" /> )
Карандаш (karandash) – Кара (kara) – black and Даш (dash) – a stone

to Evan Owen, Привет! I'm sorry if you wished to see it from Marina, I have thought about it when have written and a pity to delete <img src="http://www.hotforwords.com/forums/bb-plugins/bb-smilies/default/icon_sad.gif" title=":(" class="bb_smilies" />

I wish to all fans Hot for words - Ни пуха ни пера <img src="http://www.hotforwords.com/forums/bb-plugins/bb-smilies/default/icon_mrgreen.gif" title="" class="bb_smilies" />
