I opened <a href="http://www.hotforwords" rel="nofollow">http://www.hotforwords</a> in another tab and watched Marina's Valentine's Day video. I waited a few minutes and returned to the Youtube browser tab. There, I went to My subscriptions, and this is what was shown to me: <a href="http://i39.tinypic.com/kstck.png" rel="nofollow">http://i39.tinypic.com/kstck.png</a> The Valentine's Day video that I've watched on <a href="http://www.hotforwords.com" rel="nofollow">http://www.hotforwords.com</a> has dissapeared from the "New Videos" box under "My Subscriptions". So, Google is obviously keeping track of what Youtube-videos logged-in users watch on 3rd-party-sites. The main reason why I've created a new Youtube account yesterday was that the old one was connected to my gmail-account. I don't want Google to be able to create a profile of me under my real name based on the content of the emails that I write and receive, the videos that I watch on Youtube, the keywords that I'm using when I'm using Google's search engine and other traces that I leave on Google-related websites. You may have noticed that yesterday Youtube suggested to me some videos which had the word "evil" in their title. These suggestions appeared after I've searched for Marina's "medieval - evil" video on Youtube using the keyword "evil". After that, Youtube rated me as the evil guy because that was the only keyword that I've used on Youtube. I don't want to be profiled that way. Google/Youtube didn't manage to provide a preview pic for Marina's new video within 54 minutes to me, so how could I expect that Google/Youtube could be able to handle personal data collected from my http-requests within about half an hour. You have been well represented at all times including the "Recommended for You" box. Try it guys. I love that video. Marina does an awesome job on that video. This is my YT account subscriptions box sorted by date. Notice your latest video is in the most recent #1 spot. BillyB's is #4 as his was uploaded one day ago. Sure enough, your video showed up. So I believe that if you see it here on H4W, then it gets cookied and wont show up on YT. But please keep in mind that I've only made a guess why some of your viewers couldn't find a brandnew video in their "Subscription" box. I don't know accurately what information Youtube/Google is storing, I only know that they must store something. There are other possible reasons why couldn't find your new videos in their "Subscription"-box. Google's technicians are currently making modifications on Youtube. As far as I can remember, I have never seen new vids posted there. I do get an e-mail from YT, about every week, listing my subs new vids for the last week. Lady M has about five or six vids listed in this e-mail. I do not ever remember any type of notification for a single video. It is different with mijj's vids. I get his one at a time, but I think he sends those to me personally, plus the YT notifications. Google has heavily invested in user-tracking techniques, and these techniques are in use on Youtube. Youtube gives every user a unique ID, stores what this user is watching under this ID and determines what videos to offer to that user upon what that user has watched before. I wouldn't be surprised if Youtube would use this technique to identify that someone who is just logging in has seen the "Seargeant"-video before on your website so that Youtube doesn't have to offer it again in the "Subscriptions"-box. I must have a reason why Youtube sets a cookie named "watched_video_id_list". But I'm not a Google insider and not even a cookie expert, I can only guess.
