MISLEADING E-MAIL REPLY NOTIFICATION TEXT MAY BE SENT
The Website sends an E-mail notifying a message author that a reply has been made to his message. It is sent at the time Submit Comment is clicked. Unfortunately, the reply may not be in it's finished form at that time; the reply author may desire to edit the reply and has the right to do so for five minutes, and it could be revised to any extent or, in effect, deleted entirely (by editing down to a single period). As it stands, the notifications may be inaccurate, and, by virtue of such limitation, serve merely to inform that a reply has been made. This should be fixed if possible.
I suggest that the E-mail notification be witheld until the edit window timer expires. At that time, the author's intent (assuming he accurately represents his intent in the finished reply) will be known, and more importantly, permanently fixed and an accurate notification will result.
If the transmit time cannot be modified, I propose these less desirable alternatives:
1. No reply text be transmitted; only the notification language should be sent. This will eliminate the sending of an incorrect reply text. The author would have to use the included link to read the reply.
2. Words of warning be visible at the top of the notification: "NOTICE: THE WORDING OF THE REPLY SHOWN BELOW IS PRELIMINARY AND MAY NOT ACCURATE; IT MAY HAVE BEEN EXTENSIVELY MODIFIED BY THE AUTHOR BEFORE FINAL POSTING. PLEASE USE THE LINK BELOW TO VIEW THE ACTUAL REPLY."
