Wow! I had no idea you were using something so top-of-the-line! Here I was wondering... Marina, you must have a nice web cam on that computer of yours. LOL!
I use 8 mega pixel Canon camera and Windows Movie Maker. It suffices for now.

Ok - so 480x360 translates as 4:3, or standard definition frame format while 1280x720 gives us the widescreen ratio of 16:9; I can follow that. Some of the late model bigscreen TV's and DVD players (PS2 for example) didn't automatically select a widescreen format; you had to manually select a widescreen setting which gave the 4:3 picture area black bands above and below the viewing area (or truncated the widescreen boundaries to view at 4:3 full screen area), depending on the settings used.
@ CheVolay - The digital zoom is disabled because in HD the entire surface area of the light detecting charged coupling device (CCD) is used to achieve desired resolution. This does not rule out using zoom lenses, which diminish light quanta (lux) with the additional lens elements, but this setup went away (for the most part) during the transition from film cameras to digital format cameras. Also, the lens coatings are not the same Ektar (color temprature) standard used for film. There are but a few cameras on the market built to accept existing zoom lenses, and they attempt to correct by using color temperature maps (like computer monitors use - in degrees Kelvin). It's a little more detailed than I've tried to explain her (black body / white body radiation effect, etc) but you can find good source reading by Googling those topics - add "physics" to your word search string to get tech dirt.

Sorry melika.. it's 640x360 which you want to crop at if you don't have HD.

So can you do a pseudo zoom in post editing?
I can't believe you have to give up zooming in HDPosted 11 months ago # -
No.. I used to zoom in in post... which I can't do now as I use all of the screen now.

Has anyone else noticed the Google ad on the twitter video for this video editing software, which can now Manage Videos from HD-Cameras?

I hope you can see the link in my above post - the dark green doesn't show up as well as the blue on the HFW site.

For those worried about breaking the bank on an HD camera, Canon's HV30 is on sale for Christmas to around $600. That was the magic price for me. Six years ago, I never would have thought great looking HD would be in my price range - let alone HD on the internet!

Looks like I need to adjust my settings.. AAC audio is no good.. going to try apple lossless tomorrow.

May I just say that using a Mac and Final Cut Pro is a great choice for video editing.
My sister did an Audio/Video course years ago, and she was an avid fan of Final Cut Pro. Now I wish I had a Mac, other than my cat, who has the same name

Agreed kaibanator, the software that comes on every mac is good enough to produce practically anything.
I think the 192 AAC is finally working properly on YouTube.. I will stick with that until I get another skip. The Apple Lossless failed to process when I uploaded.

@NerdWithNoLife, Really! Wow the price dropped! I have been keeping my eye on that cam. I have an old Canon ZR10 that I want to replace. I spent over $1,300 for it. ZR10 does wide screen (cropped) not HD. I never used that feature because nobody was using it. What attracted me to the HV30 is that I can keep the compact size and still shoot HD. I hate carrying around the professional broadcast quality cams. They just make me not want to film anything. They are just way to bulky and HEAVY! Lenses are not the greatest on the HV30 but for what I'm going to use it for no one will notice. If I ever want to sup it up I can. See this guys set up. That's a bit much but the cam can be supped up. Another big thing for me is that it still uses tapes. Yea they suck but what people forget is that when your out on job you need to have something to drop all that data on. I wanted some removable storage. Tapes are dirt cheap! You can put a few dozen in your camera bag. Many manufactures are dumping the tapes but I think that is a mistake right now. Also I never erase my tapes. I just keep them for later use.
Thanks for the tip...

@Marina,
Who are you using for your effects/sub titles/clips plugins on FCP? Also is all your clip art royalty free?Posted 11 months ago # -
Why do I see the mirror image in some video?
Posted 11 months ago # -
@Che Volay
Are you referring to this video, as an example?
Cracker Game
The mirrored image is at @2:22

Marina talked about that reversed photo on the HFW comments for that video.
Here is her quote and the link for reference.
Good observation Bob! I didn’t even realize it was reversed.. my macbook takes pictures and I think there is a setting where they reverse what you are looking at.. I think I had it set on that for some reason.

Tony Reale has an awesome Canon HV-30 set up. It's a bit more than what they YT user needs but I find the HV-30 for it's price point can preform as well or in some case even better than the $5,000 Pro equipment. I've been doing some reasearch on this prosumer camera and from what Im hearing and what I read it's a nice machine.
Check out one of Tony's videos: http://www.vimeo.com/919639
Also check out the HV-20/30 forum: http://hv20.com/___/)_____

You're right, Captain. Education is your best value. A careful man with a sub $1,000 budget can outperform the guy spending thousands who doesn't understand the settings and equipment he uses (and puts them on full auto).

The rule that you get what you pay for is not always true. In my 22 years I've seen products that where a complete rip off and yet products of less cost out preform others. Some product are just over engineered for most users. The big difference I see in comparable products is MTBF. Mean time between failures. Commercial product are usually have a large MTBF rating. Consumer products may have the same features yet are built with cheaper materials and manufacturing procedures. Sometimes what I will do to save money for a company is purchase 5 units of a product that is 10 times cheaper than the pro version. The idea is in time we would save half of our expenses. Also with they speed that technology is changing buy the time we pay off a piece of equipment there is a better, faster, cheaper product coming out. That said I don't use this decisions for every item I choose. Sometime if you have a piece of equipment that is critical like in life saving you don't skip on price but search for ultimate quality.

is that cam user friendly? Cause it looks big, It looks like a News cam, I would think you would use a small and easy cam. Like a Mini HD Cam. what is the difference between a Big HD Sony Cam, and a everyday small HD sony cam?
