Intelligence is Sexy: What does that mean?

    {In the following, "man" is sometimes used in a generic sense, and refers to "male and/or female human being".}

    1) In ancient Greece, women were not considered fully human, and were treated as second-class citizens. And men had sexual relationships with other men. In time, women started doing things that demonstrated their intelligence. It was only after such demonstrations that the Greeks changed how they viewed and treated women, including viewing them as being romantically and sexually desirable. For much more details, I recommend the lectures Body & Soul: Romantic Love in Sculpture (Sculpture as a Vision of Man'S Romantic & Sexual Nature). The issue of "Intelligence is Sexy" appears at about 30 minutes into lecture 2.

    2) The preceding just provides a historical fact that shows the role of intelligence in considering a person as being sexually desirable. But it does not explain this aspect of Man's nature.

    3) People acquire their sexual tastes by the conclusions they come to while growing up. These conclusions determine their sexual tastes irrespective of whether the conclusions are true or false. For example, I had a friend in school who at the age of about 12 did not know that girls had vaginas -- he actually thought babies were born from the anus (and the absence of the penis helped with enabling the anus to expand); and this was in India where one can see naked children on the streets. And this past August, a woman married a fair-ground ride, the 1001 Nachts. Clearly, she does not consider intelligence as being sexy.

    4) We can relate (3) and (1): In general, the Greeks valued intelligence. During the time they viewed women as being unintelligent, they found women sexually unattractive. Later, they discovered that women were capable of intelligent action, and started romanticizing those women who exhibited intelligence (and women in general as beings capable of being intelligent, and hence of being romantically attractive).

    5.a) You may have seen people put up videos of themselves doing silly dances -- many of which involve the creator being the first to decry the work with remarks to the effect that he was just trying to be funny, and please do not take his efforts seriously: if he really considered his work not worthy of serious consideration, why did he put it up in the first place?

    5.b) For contrast, consider this video by ZOMGitsCriss: one can see intelligence in action in the music (in the mix of pieces from Shakira and in the added sound effects; both might be from the "Live Off The Record" tour), the control of the camera (what it shows and at what zoom) and ZOMGitsCriss' control of her body in sync with the music and in what she presents to the camera.

    Which of (5.a or 5.b) one finds sexy would depend on whether or not one values intelligence (and values one's own time spent watching the video).

    6) Irrespective of what one finds sexually attractive, what one seeks to express by the sex act is what one feels deeply as being one's relationship to existence: this could be hatred for one's life and for this world, or it could be a celebration of oneself and of one's ability to deal with this world; or it could be anything in between. And what one seeks to express will dictate one would consider as being suitable for use for such expression (i.e., what one would find sexy). So it would be people who value intelligence -- those who consider existence as being amenable to them for understanding and for controlling for their goals -- who would find Intelligence as being Sexy.

    PS: Preceding is an elaboration of a comment I made earlier (61, 61.1 of "Rude Tube").

    Intelligence in the female stimulates some males. Intelligence can be seen in subtle movements on the face, as well as in the conversation, which infers that there's a brain functioning behind those eyes. The inference being that the female is thinking of possibilities, instead of going about sex by instinct, or by some learned formula (environment). It gives promise not only of variety, but also to surprise. I don't know if this has any scientific basis, but I've heard that the smarter a person is, the greater the likelihood that they think about more variety in sex. Keeping in mind that people are complex and these are merely tendencies, not rules. Just because a woman is intelligent doesn't necessarily mean she wants wild 'n' kinky sex, nor does it mean that all men appreciate intelligent women.

    Just found out that people in New England distinguish between physical unattractiveness and mental unattractiveness; they use the term “homely” for the former and reserve the term “ugly” for the latter. http://twitter.com/GoForThisWorld/statuses/5846711367

    c.i.v.i.l relations....dr. blochAccording to Sigmund Freud, Bloch's studies were instrumental in the development of the anthropological approach to the theory of sexuality. Before Bloch, homosexuality was analyzed using a pathological approach. (Freud, Three Essays of the Theory of Sexuality, Born in Delmenhorst, Germany, he is often called the first sexologist. He discovered the Marquis de Sade's manuscript of The 120 Days of Sodom, which had been believed to be lost, and published it under the pseudonym Eugène Dühren in 1904.

    In 1899 he had published Marquis de Sade: his life and works.

    The dick end, another blue "sexy" dressAbout the Artwork

    The bodily distortions, explicit eroticism and anguish which made Egon Schiele’s artworks unpopular during his lifetime are the same features which make them so mesmerizing today. Schiele (1890 – 1918) was an exceptionally prolific Austrian Expressionist who was a protégé of Gustav Klimt, and whose formidable talents were fully matured when he was a teenager. He created emotionally charged self-portraits and allegories, but was best-known for his nude or semi-nude drawings of women, portraying them in awkwardly contracted poses to convey distress. Arrested for immorality and seduction, he created numerous watercolors and drawings during his two-week imprisonment. Dying prematurely from the Spanish flu, Schiele left a legacy of almost 3,500 compelling artworks.
