I was introduced to Twitty Popular sometime ago by a few gals on twitter. I didn't care at first then it kind of grew on me. One day I took a look at Marina's votes and compared it to my votes and I was ahead by about 20 votes or so. About a month later I checked it again and I had about a 60 vote lead. Now I now hold a 102 vote lead (at the time of this posting. I do see her votes steadily moving up.

So is my growing lead because I'm more popular or is it that I'm hotter looking? I figured we could have some fun with this and let you have a vote for the hottest or most popular tweeter. (note: you must have a twitter account to vote.) Since this site is full of male hotforwords fans, I think this would give Marina a overwhelming advantage over time.....or would it?

1. Votes can be cast once every 24 hours.
2. You are voting for HotForWords, not Marina Orlova.
The name that one enters into the Twitty box is hotforwords.

Hi Jack! You know, I'd like to give you my support - but I already live in Palm Springs (a famous Gay bastion) - which makes it tough enough to keep the rumours at bay locally. Guys as ruggedly handsome and well groomed as ourselves need to leave no ambiguity in that area - so I'll have to say I'm sorry.

Tough choice - but I'll have to go with Marina on this one!

@darlingj, No worried mate. I don't care if straight guys or gays vote. I'm quite comfortable in my straight sexuality to deal with it.
I had as the programmer to change the site to say more popular like the websites name it but he insisted in keeping it the way it is. He did make some new changes to the site to improve the rankings and also keep people from gaming the votes.

@all, I now have two votes from this page already. The split is now 104.

@pedanticKarl, Voting me or Marina to #1 doesn't matter. Neither of us will get any kind of award or recognition that would mean anything. If there was something as such, then I would withdraw from it to make sure all the vote go to her. This is just a fun toy. I don't care if I win or lose, just wanted to play with it and see if what the out come could turn out. So far I gained two vote in 5 hours to Marina's zero. I'm sure that will change by morning.
Oh and about your #2. You forgot to mention me. My name is not 'captain jack' on my twitter account either. I need to add some better instruction but I can't edit my post for the time has expired.

Additional instructions for voting if you become confused how this works.

To vote for Captain Jack, you need to click in the link and enter "@captainjack63" in the large window. Then you have to enter your twitter name and password in the other boxes to right. There is an option to click the notify box if you want a tweet to go out to let the person know you voted for them. Many people return the votes right back. So this is a way to get more votes is to vote for people. It entirely up to you if you want to check it. The second box just adds people to a favorites list. I don't know why he added that but it's not important.

To vote for Marina Orlova, you need to click her link and enter "@hotforwords" in the large window. Do the same for entering your twitter name and password.
Oh one more thing is the site doesn't save passwords. He does plan in the future to add the twitter 0auth to the site so you will no longer need to enter your log and pass. He's just waiting for the service to get out of beta testing.

Thanks to all you guys for clearing up some of the questions I've had about twittypop. I've wanted to cast a few votes for a while now, but have been unsure what it is I'm actually doing.
It all goes back to there being no truth in advertising. False advertising has always been around but these days its on a whole new level! Case in point, godaddy. All you see is ten bucks ten bucks ten bucks and when I get to check-out the bills over 100. bucks! WTF!?!
As you can see, the ADD has sent me clear off the subject after only one sentence! Thats my my sign, thanks again.

I'm a bit confused. This is for Popular or Hot? Your site it called twitty pop as in popular tweeters yet it says vote for who it hot. I get many people embarrassed to vote for same sex. Maybe some rewording might be in order? i.e. Vote for who you think is either awesome, cool, hot, sexy, smart, etc.

I've restored your vote totals.

You make some very interesting points! Perhaps the site's name is
misleading and I naively believed that hot and popular could be used
interchangeably. Back in high school the popular girls were all good
looking

They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so perhaps being hot
is not all about physical appearance. And in that sense I could expand
the scope to include reasons for why you are voting for the person. Is
it for beauty, intelligence etc. The site did however intend to put
emphasis on physical beauty.

LOL, James you might be right! What's your twitter account name?

*update* Marina has 92 votes to my 211 for a 119 vote lead. That's an increase of 17 votes. I half expected with Marina's popularity to run right over me. I wonder why this is. To soon to make an assessment yet. The only student that votes for me is PK. I know both PK and I vote for Marina as often as we remember to do so.

I think I just figured it out. No one want to give out their password. I'll see if I can get Martin to implement Oauthr which doesn't require to enter in your info.

I feel bad for Marina is behind me. I've even been voting for her so she doesn't fall any further behind. Though this contaminates my experiment.
