    To cut to the chase, the police sense of “copper” and “cop” probably comes originally from the Latin word “capere,” meaning “to seize,” which also gave us “capture.” “Cop” as a slang term meaning “to catch, snatch or grab” appeared in English in the 18th century, ironically originally used among thieves — a “copper” was a street thief. But by the middle of the 19th century, criminals apprehended by the police were said to have themselves been “copped” — caught — by the “coppers” or “cops.” And there you have the etiology of “cop.” Case, as the cops say, closed.

    So i go for what’s behind door no 3. Because it meant to grab (thief) and grab as in capture, right?

    There was no one event that led to the invasion of Iraq. Nothing was simple about that war and what led up to it.
    People have formed their opinions about the war, for and against, and there is plenty of speaking points for either side.
    We’ll have to wait for historians to sift through the evidence,
    hopefully without preconceived conclusions, politics and emotions.

    I do a lot of my shopping on the net. Marina is right when she uses Amazon as her reference. I like to check out stuff with Amazon, esp. when I shop at eBay, since Amazon gives a fairly
    competitive price with most goods and frequently beats the prices at eBay. I like to check out Sierra Trading Post also, but it’s best with that outfit to stick with name brands that you already are familiar with like Carharts and New Balance. I check out the “hot deals” at Campmor and the clearance sales atCabelas. Amazon is a great place to buy used books, too. If your feet are non-standard size or shape, check out these 2 custom shoe makers, Hersey (for athletic style shoes) and Grundman’s (for well made work boots and other kinds of shoes). Go here for the best deal in a quality mechanical pencil…I like the 0.9mm leads. And dig their pencil clips…I’m addicted to them now.
    I’m getting that same rush that Vince from Shamwow gets…call now because you know we can’t do this all day.
